Lobenberg: Pavie Macquin liegt weiter oben auf dem Hochplateau, zulaufend auf Troplong Mondot. Kalkstein mit Lehm-Sand-Auflage. Ein Bioweingut. In 2020 mit einer fruchtigen, reifen, intensiven Nase. Viel süße rote Kirsche, Brombeere, Cassis und Schwarzkirsche. Süß, reich, dicht und opulent. Sehr erotisch-sexy, ohne richtig fett zu sein. Erstaunlich feiner Mund, geschliffen, poliert und tänzelnd. Sehr viel Sauerkirsche. Leicht bitteres Ende, aber im Summe eine extrem gute Harmonie ausstrahlend. Mittlere Länge. Ziemlich nahe der Perfektion, excellenter Saint-Émilion. 100100

-- Galloni: The 2020 Pavie Macquin is sensational. Rich, dark and explosive, the 2020 balances the natural richness that is such a signature of the estate with a level of energy and vibrancy I have not seen here in the recent past. The result is a towering, imposing Pavie Macquin that hugely delivers. In this vintage, regisseur Nicolas Thienpont did not use the Cabernet Sauvignon, so the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc lending aromatic presence, energy and depth. What a total knock out! 100/100

-- VertdeVin: Die Nase ist schön geführt, aromatisch, rassig, elegant und bietet Kraft (mit Feinheit), feine Körnung, Dichte (mit Genauigkeit) und eine schöne Vielschichtigkeit mit Tiefe. Es zeigen sich Noten von heller schwarzer Johannisbeere, heller Boysenbeere und leicht breiiger Erdbeere, kombiniert mit kleinen Anklängen von Heidelbeere, Erdbeere, Veilchen, feinen Anklängen von Lakritzstange, Würze und einem nicht wahrnehmbaren Hauch von Ortssinn (lokales Biotop). Der Gaumen ist fruchtig, frisch, mineralisch, elegant, schön definiert und bietet Gier, Präzision, Kraft, eine schöne Vielschichtigkeit (in der Feinheit) und eine feine Maserung. Am Gaumen drückt dieser Wein breiig-saftige schwarze Johannisbeere, helle Brombeere und eher leicht breiig-cremige schwarze Beerennoten aus, kombiniert mit einem Hauch von Himbeere sowie Anklängen von Veilchen, Lilie, süßer Würze, Haselnuss, dezentem Graphit, Orange, Vanille und einem nicht wahrnehmbaren Hauch von Toast/Schokolade. Gute Länge. Die Tannine sind elegant, präzise, massiv und geschmeidig. Ein reichhaltiger Wein, der Dichte, Kraft und dennoch Feinheit und Eleganz bietet. 98-99/100

-- Parker: The 2020 Pavie Macquin has an opaque purple-black color, exploding from the glass with an intoxicating perfume of violets, Ceylon tea, forest floor and eucalyptus over a core of blackberry preserves, Morello cherries and stewed plum, plus wafts of crushed rocks and unsmoked cigars. The medium to full-bodied palate shimmers with energetic red and black fruit layers and loads of floral and earthy sparks, framed by exquisitely ripe, finely grained tannins and amazing tension, finishing with a long-lingering perfume of black fruits. A real head-turner! 96-98/100

-- Gerstl: 80% Merlot und 20% Cabernet Franc.Der Pavie Macquin strahlt eine enorme Fruchtfülle von rotbeerigen Aromen aus. Das wirkt das Bouquet delikat süss und verführerisch. Himbeere, Erdbeere und Johannisbeere, aber auch etwas Kirsche. Feinste florale Nuancen und zarte Würze im Hintergrund. Auch am Gaumen bringt er eine unbeschreiblich schöne Eleganz zur Geltung. Alles wirkt unglaublich fein und verspielt, dazu kommt dass er dank der guten Säure belebend frisch und saftig wirkt. Sicherlich ein eher untypischer Vertreter aus St. Emilion, aber dadurch auch sehr interessant. Dieser Wein ist total auf Feinheit aufgebaut und trotzdem birgt er eine wuchtige und reife Aromatik in sich. Wunderschöne Balance in jedem Moment. Grandios. Pirmin Bilger 19+/20
