Extrem dunkles Rubinrot, fast schwarz. Sehr konzentrierte, ätherische Nase, die aus dem Glas strömt. Die Nase wird komplett besetzt mit dieser Duftorgie. Feine Süße. Sehr viel schwarze Frucht. Etwas Teer. Etwas Schoko. Betörend. Im Mund unerwartet fein. Schönes Volumen mit viel roter Frucht. Wie gewohnt bei Grand Puy Lacoste ein Touch Chateauneuf, in diesem Jahr aber dann eher der Stil von Chateau Pegau. Sehr kraftvoll. Sehr voluminös. Schön gezeichnet. Tolle Länge. Insgesamt für Grand Puy Lacoste eine bislang nie erreichte Harmonie. Totale Balance.

The Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2005 has a brilliant, classic pencil-lead nose that is Pauillac through and through. There is no messin’ about here. The palate is very well defined with wonderful acidity, great depth of black fruit with an astonishingly precise finish that just takes your breath away. Is it the best 2005 of the vintage? Not quite, but it belongs in the top tier. And factor in value for money, I would be happy sitting on a big pile of this in my cellar to drink over the rest of my lifetime and the afterlife if that exists too.

A stunning wine! This shows exceptional depth, with precision and richness beautifully knit together. Aromas of graphite and something darker (think Chinese ink) make your nose want to go deeper. Subtle touches of savoriness and cigars shows evolution. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, with firm and fine tannins and an extremely long finish. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% merlot. Complex and already approachable, but it will easily keep well for 20 years. Drink or hold. From a vertical tasting at the winery.,,
