The 2021 Riesling Heiligenstein Rotfels is the first wine presented from this parcel of 60-year-old vines vinified separately on the eastern flank of the Heiligenstein. This site is sheltered and thus marginally warmer, despite not getting much afternoon sun. The 2020 vintage was made but not commercialized. The 2021 has a lifted purity on the nose, uniting citrus fruit and an evanescent overtone of passion fruit allure. The palate is stony and clear, with a playful element that unites red apple citrus freshness, smooth yeast and herbal tisane highlights that add such a beautiful savoriness. The body is incisive, herbal and fruity, with a tea-like mouthfeel. This is serene, smooth and bright yet rounded. (Bone-dry) 96/100
