2022-sammensætningen består af 85 procent Merlot, 13 procent Cabernet Sauvignon og to procent Cabernet Franc. Andelen af Cabernet Franc vil stige i fremtiden. 14,8 volumenprocent alkohol, pH-værdi 3,48. Høsten begyndte den 29. august - den tidligste nogensinde. Efter 12 dages gæring blev størstedelen af druerne afstilket, og to tanke indeholdt hele klaser. Alt blev kølet ned til fem grader i en dag før gæringen. 60 procent nyt træ i lagringsprocessen. Næsen er stort set, som den altid er, selv om 2022 altid er fin: rige, fyldige sorte kirsebær - meget intense! Plus cassis, morbær og lidt blåbær. Masser af tryk, høj intensitet! Rige violer og lakrids trænger igennem. Utrolig fremdrift! Troplong Mondot er simpelthen Troplong Mondot - der er få powervine som denne. Men i 2022 har den intet groft, intet grønt. En utrolig fremdrift, men også en utrolig blødhed fra rige, smøragtige tanniner. På trods af al dens kraft og tæthed har den en fantastisk friskhed. Sikke en smuk syre! Leger med surkirsebær, pink grapefrugt, let chilikrydderi og lys lakrids. Masser af salt løber ned ad tungen. Utrolig længde! Dette er en af de største power-vine i 2022-årgangen. Så meget tryk, så meget intensitet og spænding! Den vil være en legende om 15 eller 20 år. Stor, hvis ikke den største Troplong Mondot nogensinde. Geniale sager! 100/100 *** Troplong Mondot ligger på toppen af plateauet, men ikke på den sydlige kant, men snarere i midten, lige ved siden af vandtårnet. 28 hektar af det bedste terroir på kalksten og ler. Lidt skrånende. Nedenfor ligger Tertre Roteboeuf. Den direkte nabo er Pavie Macquin. Uden tvivl et af de bedste terroirs i Saint-Émilion par excellence, og siden Amerique de Gironde flyttede fra Cos d'Estournel til Troplong som direktør, er vejen til 1er Grand Cru Classe A blevet fulgt konsekvent.

2022 vil gå over i historien som en fremragende årgang med hensyn til kvalitet. Og det på trods af, at det var den tørreste sommer i Frankrig, siden man begyndte at registrere den, og det varmeste år i det hele taget siden 1947.

The 2022 Troplong Mondot has turned out brilliantly in bottle. Wafting from the glass with aromas of mulberries and blackberries mingled with notions of licorice, rose petals, incense and pencil shavings, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with huge mid-palate volume, superb integration and an ineffable sense of completeness. This site always delivers power, but I've never tasted a Troplong that's simultaneously quite so powerful or quite so harmonious and suave. Concluding with a broad, violet-inflected finish, the 2022 represents the essence of this remarkable site.

Glorious aromatics burst out of the glass with scents of dried herbs, tobacco, mint and blackcurrant. Sumptuous and filling in the best way, the texture, weight and depth of the flavours here is seriously impressive - round and wide but so finessed so that it doesn't feel too heavy. Restrained power with such confidence. Balanced, harmonious and totally moreish, this is an incredible wine that already feels so approachable. Tannins are flawless and the juicy berry fruit with soft salted liquorice edges give nuance and interest. Still a little shy but such potential here. Wonderful.

Youthfully Shy, Fragrant, Blue Fruit, Violets, Dark Chocolate, Dried Herbs, Full bodied, Moderate Acidity, Subtle Oak, Velvety Texture, High Tannin, Needs Time. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Troplong Mondot is quite closed to begin, needing a lot of patient swirling to bring out aromas of fresh blueberries, plum preserves, and juicy blackberries, plus hints of violets, dark chocolate, and wild sage. The full-bodied palate is full-on impactful with bags of black and blue fruit flavors and a firm, velvety texture, supported by seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed. I love the restraint and effortless beauty of this wine!

Hyper precision from the crushed-stone minerality here, with berries, spiced dark cherries, hibiscus and fresh plums. Extremely polished yet vivid, with fibrous, chalky tannins emitting vibrations before dissolving into a lengthy finish drenched with fruit. Concentrated but effortless. Already alluring but better in 3-4 years.

I was able to taste the 2022 Château Troplong Mondot on two separate occasions, and it never failed to impress. A blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, it was raised in 55% new oak, with the balance in once-used barrels and foudre. It's an incredibly pure, precise, seamless Saint-Emilion that has vibrant black raspberry and darker cherry fruits as well as hints of graphite, spring flowers, and damp earth. This medium to full-bodied, layered, nicely concentrated 2022 has polished tannins, a lively spine of acidity, and flawless overall balance. It's the finest vintage I've tasted at this château since the 2015.

Violet edged with an inky core. Expertly delivers the sense of energy that is so key to the best wines in 2022. As powerful as you would expect from these clay-limestone soils, the vintage character shows in dried rosemary and white pepper spice, lacing the fresher blueberry and loganberry fruits. These are big tanins that take a long time to uncurl during tasting and will take a long time in bottle to come around. Contained power, with chocolate block, liqourice, dried roses, delicate but underpinned by menancingly powerful tannins, and a saline twist. Expert construction from director Aymeric de Gironde, carefully containing both the natural power of the soils of Troplong and the natural concentration of the vintage. 50hl/h yield. Harvest began on August 29 through to September 26. Thomas Duclos consultant. Around 3% whole bunch used during fermentation, aged in 55% new oak, 24% one year old, 21% large 2,000l oak casks.

The lingering finish displays sweet, red, and black fruits, a salted, orange citrus tone, and a beautiful chalky character on the backend.
