Leret, sandet jord, ud mod havet. Direkte presning, derefter gæring i 600 liters fade. Lagringen finder sted i et år i barriques med lejlighedsvis batonnage. Aromatisk tager Chardonnay straks føringen med sin fine mineralske reduktion af flint og krudt, derefter også knuste mandler, pistaciecreme og litchi, lidt melon. Høj spænding i smagen, selv om den har så meget kraft, men mineraliteten og den maritime påvirkning fra nærheden til havet absorberer middelhavsvarmen godt. Smuk krydret ingefær i munden, derefter en cremet, fyldig finish med muslingeskaller og lidt kokosnød til allersidst. Der er virkelig musik i den, en stor kysthvidvin fra et topterroir.

Another exceptional La Falaise from Team La Négly. A bold chatoyancy of fruit, herb and spice: greengage, fennel, apricot, anise. It has the lacy, airy, sunlit fragrance of wild fennel flowers dancing in a lively sea breeze against a bright blue sky. Subtle and interesting, streaked with the cheeky bitter-wit of peach kernel and matcha. The oak is beautifully woven in, thread by thread. The fruit is primary and engaging at the moment, but I think this wine will show far more of its complexity after a couple of years in bottles. I’d love to taste some older vintages.
