Den hvide Haut-Brion er en absolut legende, en af de sjældneste og mest eftertragtede hvide Bordeaux-vine. 58,1 Sauvignon Blanc og 41,9 % Semillon. Modnet på ca. 50 % nye fade smagte jeg de to hvide topvine fra La Mission og Haut-Brion i direkte sammenligning, og denne hvide Haut-Brion virker mere moden, mindre puristisk, men generelt noget mere bredskuldret og koncentreret end La Mission. Delikat eksotisme af bananblad, stjernefrugt og abrikos i næsen. Lang og kompleks med en tæt, stenet kerne, men når ikke helt den hvide La Missions finesse, snarere mere koncentreret og kraftfuld i sin stil. Stor længde med knivskarp glans i kernen.

2023 fremstår som et spektakulært, sanseligt nydelsesvidunder, der forener et varmt års modne fylde med en storslået, livlig friskhed. OG denne årgang regnes for at være et absolut hit, hvad angår pris og kvalitet, er yderst charmerende og byder fra første slurk på en uimodståelig, fængslende drikkeglæde.

Based on 58% Sauvignon Blanc and 42% Sémillon, the 2023 Château Haut-Brion Blanc is clearly a step up and has sensational aromatics of crushed citrus, white figs, mint, crushed stone, and a kiss of clean reduction. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate and pure, layered, and round, with incredible depth and a great, great finish. This is a killer white that will evolve for decades. It doesn't get better in Bordeaux Blanc. This reference white will need 7-8 years of bottle age to hit its plateau of prime drinking. Drink 2034-2054.

Citrus-driven aromas of lemon peel and grapefruit that are slightly restrained at first. The palate shows impressive concentration, with fleshy stone fruit balanced by a linear profile and a pleasant bitter note that adds definition in the finish. 58.1% sauvignon blanc and 41.9% semillon. Long and refined, this can be enjoyed now with aeration, but it will evolve beautifully. Drink now or hold.

A blend of 58.1% Sauvignon Blanc and 41.9% Sémillon, the white 2023 Haut‑Brion has a pH of 3.2. It is incredibly closed to start, needing a lot of patient swirling to shake loose notes of fresh grapefruit, struck flint, lime leaves, coriander seed, and crushed stones, soon opening out to fragrant scents of lemongrass and honeysuckle, with a touch of baking bread. The medium‑bodied palate vibrates with energetic citrus flavors, featuring a satiny/chalky texture and a racy backbone, finishing with amazing length and depth.

The 2023 Haut-Brion Blanc is fascinating to taste next to La Mission, as it is more linear and focused, whereas the personalities of the two wines are usually the opposite. Lemon peel, crushed rocks, mint, chalk, dried herbs and white pepper sizzle with tension. Weightless and focused, with striking energy, the Blanc is a total stunner.

A blend of 58.1% Sauvignon Blanc and 41.9% Sémillon, the 2023 Blanc from Haut-Brion is performing brilliantly in bottle, revealing aromas of confit citrus, pear, ripe white fruits, orchard fruits and a subtle touch of smoke. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and finely textured, it is more vibrant and tensile than La Mission, concluding with an enveloping, delicate and penetrating finish. As is so often the case at this address in this vintage, it surpasses the expectations formed at the en primeur stage.

The 2023 Haut-Brion Blanc has a clean and precise bouquet, lilting scents of apple blossom, dewy meadow and Mirabelle (as I remarked out of barrel). The palate is very well balanced with impressive weight, finely judged acidity, quite tensile and sapid with a dab of stem ginger on the finish. As I said before, texturally, this is a very satisfying Haut-Brion Blanc.
