Lobenberg: Ein uralter gemischter Satz, mehr als 80 Jahre alte Reben, 95% Arinto dos Acores im hgemischten Satz. Nur 50 Meter vom Meer entfernt und direkt neben dem Centenario stehend. Da wo die Krabben singen. Handlese, kurze Maischestandzeit mit Direktpresse, spontan vergoren zu 75% im Stahl und zu 25% im Barrique, danach auf der Hefe belassen und knapp ein Jahr ausgebaut. Danach unfiltriert in die Flasche, es gibt nur 500 davon und womöglich wird der benachbarte Centenario garnicht gefüllt, es gibt so wenig. Strohgelb mit Tendenz zu Zitrusgelb. In der Nase blutjung, extrem strukturiert und etwas schräg. Lakritze und Trüffel? Stein und Salz, Limette, Lindenblüte, Jod, etwas tannic und doch sehr aromatisch. Der im Gegensatz zum Centenario etwas aromatischere und vollmundigere, fruchtigere Wein schreit trotz früher Zugänglichkeit ebenfalls nach Alterung, man sollte ihm sicher erstmal 5 Jahre im Keller geben. Eine grandiose Dichte und Länge und Power und doch nie fett, eher elegant und hochindividuell mit hochintensivem Steinsalz und Meersalz im scharfen Nachhall. Hochindividuell ist noch untertrieben, nicht jeder mag's. 97/100

-- Parker: The 2021 Canada do Monte is mostly Arinto dos Açores (over 95%, as there are some other things in the field blend like Verdelho and Alicante Branco) from very old vines (80 years) aged for 12 months in a 70/30 mixture of stainless steel and third-use French oak. It comes in at 13.3% alcohol. This has a brighter feel than, say, the Aards this issue, livelier and better integrated. It is gloriously fresh and not as stern as the Aards. That projects greater depth in terms of mouthfeel and more power, but this is more easily approachable today. Of course, these are only relative comparisons, since they both do everything brilliantly. As with the Aards, this has to age a bit and develop to justify my enthusiasm. It looks like it should do that, with another 10 to 15 years of aging possible from today, maybe more. We'll see. None of these as yet have long track records, but they certainly have impressive structure. There were 1,033 bottles produced. The 2021 vintage was again a very low yield vintage, due to ocean storms in April. The area of Criação Velha escaped, because floraision had finished. From a rain point of view, it wasn’t [either] a wet vintage (like 2014, 2016, 2019) or a very dry vintage (like 2013, 2015, 2018) ... it is somewhere in between,' perhaps most similar to 2017 and 2020, says the winery. 94/100
