Lobenberg: 83,5 Prozent Merlot, 16 Prozent Cabernet Franc und 0,5 Prozent Cabernet Franc. Der Alkoholgehalt liegt bei 13,5 Volumenprozent. Eine erstaunlich dominante Cabernet Franc in der Nase, mit dieser wunderschönen Himbeerwürze. Sie schlägt voll durch. Dann kommt die schwarze Kirsche. Merlot-typisch und typisch für 2019, weil wir wenig Brombeere haben, sondern einfach massiv viel schwarze Kirsche. Ultrafein und spielerisch. Der Mund ist von allem zu viel. Schwarzkirsche bis zum Abwinken. Mineralien und Salz. In die Länge gezogen ohne Ende. Die Augen werden schmal, es ist eine so hohe Intensität. Der Wein ist extrem reif, vielleicht der reifste Wein, den ich dieses Jahr probiert habe. Aber er ist nicht fett, sondern bleibt verspielt, weil er zur anderen Seite eine extreme Würzigkeit und Frische aus den kühlen Herbstnächten hat. Ein Blockbuster in Feinheit. Das ist ein Monument, aber er ist nicht fett. 2018 war deutlich üppiger und fetter. 2019 ist deutlich feiner, obwohl er wohl noch reifer ist. Aber er hat eben diese Frische und Würze an der Seite. Das ist ein L´Evangile der anderen Art, ein Monument der Zeitgeschichte. Und nachdem ich zuvor Eglise Clinet probiert habe, würde ich L´Evangile auf den gleichen hohen Level setzen. Grandioser Wein! 100/100

Gerstl über: Chateau L’Evangile

-- Gerstl: Der Duft deutet eine superfeine Delikatesse an, wirkt zart aber immens komplex und reich, das ist die Sinne betörend, da muss ein ganz grosser Evangile im Glas sein. Es verschlägt mir die Sprache, das ist ein grandioses Weinmonument, superfein, hochelegant, bombastisch konzentriert und dabei genial schlank feingliedrig, Tannine wie Samt, ein Überwein, eigentlich von allem zu viel und doch stimmt alles auf den Punkt, nicht breit nicht fett, aber monumental aromatisch, ein Traumwein. 20+/20

-- Decanter: From the very first moment your nose approaches the glass you know something special is happening. Seductive, rich, mouth-filling to the point that you really understand what that means. Just pops out of your mouth, with evident density of luscious blackberry and brambled raspberry fruit but also vertical climb through the palate. Violet notes marry with baked earth, grilled liquorice, tension and seduction. Highest level of Cabernet Franc in the blend in recent history, and first time that they have used all of the Cabernet Franc available in the vineyard - also first time to have this touch of Cabernet Sauvignon since the Rothschilds arrived at the property. Have I tasted a better l'Evangile ? Certainly not at this stage, and one of the very few wines in 2019 that I can say without question approaches a perfect score. I don't give 100s at En Primeur but this is off the scale delicious, and I already can't wait to taste it in bottle. 99/100

-- Suckling: Lots of black-olive, crushed-berry and wet-earth aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet polished with a very fine, velvety texture from the tannins. It’s long and structured with a blue-fruit and stone undertone to the palate. Some sage, too. More balanced than in the past. Extremely persistent on the palate. 83.5% merlot, 16% cabernet franc and 0.5% cabernet sauvignon. 97-98/100

-- Parker: The 2019 L'Evangile is composed of 83.5% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested from the 13th of September to the 3rd of October. The alcohol comes in at 14.6%. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose hits the ground running with opulent scents of ripe black cherries, dried mulberries, baked plums and warm blueberries plus hints of candied violets, licorice, molten chocolate and wild sage with just a drop of hoisin. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wonderfully concentrated with seductive layers of exotic spice-laced black fruit preserves and a velvety texture, finishing long and with just enough freshness. Tantalizingly moreish! 96-98/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: A rocking bouquet of blue fruits, dark chocolate, damp earth, and violet emerges from the 2019 Château L'Evangile, a slightly fresher yet still deep, concentrated expression of this château. Full-bodied, with beautiful tannins, a great mid-palate, and certainly no shortage of length on the finish, it has the silky, seamless style of the vintage, yet I'd still give bottles a solid 7-8 years in a cold cellar. It's a slightly changed style but still gorgeous. 96-98/100

-- Wine Cellar Insider: The beautiful blend of roses, chocolate, licorice, coffee with cream and perfectly ripe plums is exciting. On the palate, the wine is rich, lush, sensuous and velvety, giving you a backdrop for all that sexy plum liqueur and extremely dark cocoa in the full-bodied, concentrated, long, opulent finish. The wine is a blend of 83.5 Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and .5% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the first time Cabernet Sauvignon has been placed in the blend. Harvesting took place September 13-October 3. The wine reached 14.6 alcohol, with no touch of heat or jammy sensations. The Grand Vin was produced from 60% of the harvest. 96-98/100
