Parcellerne til Via Nuova er varierede, dels med kalkholdig mergel, dels med lerholdige dele - en kombination, der giver denne Barolo en afbalanceret, men ikke overdrevet dybde. Vinen er lagret i næsten to år på franske barriques, nogle nye, andre brugte, efterfulgt af flaskelagring for at harmonisere. Næsen afslører røde kirsebær, tranebær, et lille hint af viol og subtile nuancer af lakrids, understøttet af en kølig mineralitet. I munden er vinen elegant og klart struktureret med fine, velintegrerede tanniner, afbalanceret syre og solid koncentration uden overdreven kraft; den er tilgængelig, men med substans. Eftersmagen er mellemlang til lang, med salt mineralitet, en subtil urtenote og en let karakter af tørret frugt. En subtil, klassisk Via Nuova, som viser karakter uden at forfalde til overdådighed, og som allerede er en fornøjelse at drikke, men som stadig har potentiale til at modnes.

Piemonte 2021 er muligvis den bedste årgang nogensinde, og den slår alle rekorder. De perfekt modnede Nebbiolo'er imponerer med enestående balance, fænomenalt moden, saftig frugt og en spektakulær tanninstruktur - et fejlfrit mesterværk fuld af race.

Parker om: Barolo Via Nuova

This wine represents a blend of fruit from various sites, and 15,000 bottles were created. Showing a classical profile, the E. Pira e Figli - Chiara Boschis 2021 Barolo Via Nuova delivers a firm sense of inner fiber and richness with dark blueberry and black fruit. These aromas are enhanced by ethereal tones of blue flower and aniseed. The tannins are slightly more approachable in this wine compared to the Mosconi, but the intensity and richness of the mouthfeel is about the same.

Suckling om: Barolo Via Nuova

An intense Barolo with aromas of Parma violets, cinnamon, restrained blood oranges, cherries and licorice. Incredibly precise and defined. Full-bodied on the powerful and graceful palate, with velvety tannins and refreshing, lifted acidity. A lot of substance, with a crunchy style and balance. Long, licorice aftertaste. Best after 2027.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Barolo Via Nuova

A bright ruby color, the 2021 Barolo Via Nuova is pure and inviting, offering deeper notes of fresh cherries, orange peel, incense, and toasted spice. Medium-bodied, with ripe tannins and excellent balance, it carries both richness and clarity, finishing long with a mix of fruit, spice, and subtle salinity. This compelling and layered wine should age very well. Drink 2026-2045.

Galloni om: Barolo Via Nuova

The 2021 Barolo Via Nuova is a gorgeous, poised wine. Bright and energetic, with tons of drive, the 2021 has so much to offer. Brisk acids and veins of tannin shape this dynamic mid-weight Barolo. Blood orange, plum, chalk and rose petal are some of the many notes that come alive with aeration. The Via Nuova is a gorgeous wine in the making, but it needs a few years to be at its most expressive.

Wine Spectator om: Barolo Via Nuova

A fleshy, vibrant red, featuring cherry, plum, green olive, iron, tar and tobacco flavors. There’s intensity and viscosity midpalate, while the aftertaste stretches out, echoing the fruit, savory and mineral components. Shows superb balance and length; this just needs time. Best from 2029 through 2048.

Jancis Robinson om: Barolo Via Nuova

Barolo. Lustrous, youthful mid ruby. A core of perfumed cherry and raspberry with savoury, almost exotic spice touches. Supple, polished raspberry fruit, with beautiful, tactile tannins. Long and still a little embryonic. (WS)
