Vina Tondonia Blanco Reserva
The 2015 Viña Tondonia Blanco Reserva, from vines averaging 63 years of age, comes from a year with very good rain and even snow and a warm summer and end of the season that resulted in an early harvest, earlier than 2014. The wine matured in well-seasoned American oak barrels for six years. It's amazing, because the wine is paler than the 2018 Gravonia. It has a youth and freshness that is unbelievable, because 2015 was warm, powerful and ripe and the alcohol went up in very little time, but the wine has freshness and balance, very good acidity and a vibrant mouthfeel. It has the "white Tondonia" nose and a surprising palate. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.3 and 6.6 grams of acidity. It was probably the surprise of the tasting, well above the expectations. 21,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2023.
