Although Felsenberg also faces south, a cold wind sweeps down the mountainside of the Pfälzer Wald forest to cool the vineyard. Harvest usually takes place five to seven days later than at Saumagen. The 2020 is still in an introverted phase, cooler and stonier on the nose, with more reduction, graphite and pencil character than the Saumagen Spätburgunder. Fresh and vivid, with silky tannins. The fruit shows dark berries, black cherries, dark chocolate and a hint of eucalyptus, with an expressive, lingering finish. (Barrel sample) 97/100
