From old vines on calcareous slate soils and aged in barrels of different size (from 225 to 1,500 liter), the ruby-colored 2021 Fläscher Pinot Noir Alte Reben opens with a deep, intense and charming bouquet of red wild berries intertwined with floral, flinty and perfectly integrated toasty notes. Dense but lush and refined on the palate, this is an elegant, fresh and finessed Pinot Noir with fine tannins and sustainable mineral freshness and tension on the finish. The wine isn't really lean, even though it seems to be, but the finish is tight, intense and serious, tart, fresh and cleansing. This is a superb Pinot with grip and tension. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Zurich, February 2023. The wine sells for less than 30 Swiss francs ex-cellar, which makes it one of the very best buys among Swiss Pinot Noir. 91/100
