Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateauneuf du Pape blanc 2012

95–96
/100

Parker om: Chateauneuf du Pape blanc

The 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc from Clos des Papes offers up a distinctive and complex bouquet of ripe white fruits, toasted sesame, orgeat and a subtle reductive thread, with a freshness that immediately sets it apart. Full-bodied, dense and round, it has beautiful, well-integrated tannins, mineral bitterness of remarkable elegance and a long, saline finish of considerable precision. It's not the most powerful vintage in this vertical, but it's one whose slower maturation has yielded singular aromatic complexity and mineral bitterness that is among the most refined in the range.

Jancis Robinson om: Chateauneuf du Pape blanc

-- Robinson: Bottled in March. No oak, a blend of the six cépages. Coulure affected Grenache Blanc. Very ripe and powerful but Bourboulenc and Picpoul (which is ripe at 12.5%) kept the wine fresh. Clairette and Picardan give elegance. Herbal and well mannered on the nose. Big and round with great satin texture but lots of green fruits and freshness. There's a smoky note and a quince flavour with some minerality. This wine may be low alcohol but it's still very refreshing. Vincent says fine white Châteauneufs need glycerol. I have given dates for its first drinking period. It is highly likely to have a second one. 18/20

Wine Spectator om: Chateauneuf du Pape blanc

-- WS: A bracing, pure style, with a tightly coiled core of talc, honeysuckle, kaffir lime and white peach notes. Sleek and racy, with a stony accent inlaid on the finish, adding extra detail and range. Shows the latent depth and the purity to develop steadily in the cellar. Drink now through 2021. 93/100
