For a young Mosel riesling Auslese this is remarkably drinkable. Incredibly bright with very focused citrus, lemon balm and caramelized pineapple aromas. Excellent concentration and finesse on the super-clean palate this has a wonderful balance. The finish moves with the precision and strength of prima ballerina over the palate. Barely off-dry for this category. Vegan. Drink or hold. 96/100

The 2022 Riesling Thörnicher Ritsch Auslese was harvested with a small amount of botrytis. The nose is shy, but the palate is sweet and concentrated, almost viscous, with passion fruit freshness, adding tropical allure to a concentration. Fine freshness delineates all. That passion fruit and citrus combo pulls it through to the last and echoes very long. Restrained sweetness at 82g/L of sweetness and 9.2g/L of acidity. (Sweet) 95/100

Mosel Fine Wines om: Riesling Ritsch Auslese Erste Lage

The 2022er Ritsch Riesling Auslese, as it is referred to on the front label, was made from lightly botrytized grapes picked at 98° Oechsle and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (79 g/l). It offers a rather intense and subtly broad nose made of green herbs, whipped cream, lemony elements, pear, and smoke. The wine proves rather powerful but well balanced on the palate (it does have 9% alcohol) and leaves one with a nicely playful and not overly sweet feel of fruits, cream, and herbs in the long finish. The aftertaste is packed with fresh juicy fruity flavors, which lifts the experience. This is a very pure expression of Mosel Auslese in the making! 2032-2047 94/100
