An fresh yet aged Barolo, showing the wealth and glory of the great 2000 vintage. Aromas of ripe strawberry, tart and mushroom and some bark undertones. Full-bodied and very powerful with a depth of fruit and chewy tannins that are ripe and round. Some smoke and bark, too. A fantastic wine now and will continue to age beautifully. Only 500 bottles made. A new program with aged wines from the family reserve. This was bottled in 2005. Drink or hold. 96/100

Federica Boffa overtog Pio Cesare i en ung alder af 24 år og lægger nu al sin energi i den traditionelle familievingård. Og resultaterne er imponerende! Pio Cesare grundlagde sin lille vingård i Alba i 1881. På det tidspunkt var Piemonte en fattig region, og det var ikke let for vinbønderne at tjene...
