Den anden vin fra Masseto er blevet aftappet separat siden 2017-årgangen for at hæve den åbenlyse kvalitet af Masseto endnu mere, så disse druer plejede at være en del af Masseto. 2022 Massetino er allerede et meget specielt "insidertip", fordi kvaliteten er helt suveræn! Omkring en tredjedel af vingårdens samlede høst af Merlot-druer går til Massetino. I modsætning til den rene Merlot i Masseto er der altid lidt Cabernet Sauvignon i blandingen, hvilket bidrager til vinens klirrende præcision og forførende saftighed. I 2022 er det 10 procent Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinen gæres parcelvis med vildgær i beton og lagres derefter i 12 måneder på 50 procent nye barriques, før den endelige blanding sammensættes. Aftapningen finder sted efter yderligere tre måneder i betontanke. Dyb, lys rubinrød farve. Næsen er allerede ret perfekt! Kompleks, krydret med en fænomenal frugtbalance og intens, stenet mineralitet. Macererede, attraktivt søde kirsebær, røde bær med duftende vanilje, tørret blond tobak, muskatnød, laurbærblad, nogle krydrede enebær og uendeligt komplekse aromaer af tørrede røde og blå blomster og varm stearinvoks. Fyldig, velduftende og ultraattraktiv. I munden har denne Massetino en strålende koncentration - alt er koncentreret, frugten såvel som krydderiet. De fine, pulveragtige tanniner glider elegant hen over tungen og efterlader en præcis friskhed, som man ikke ville have forventet af en varm årgang. Søde, saftige blåbær, syrlige kirsebær, surkirsebær, røde blommer og brombær. Mælkechokolade, et strejf af lakrids og timian bliver hængende i ganen. På grund af sin enorme kvalitet og tæthed kunne denne vin næsten omklassificeres til en førstevin. Fænomenalt imponerende ting og en fantastisk "lille Masseto"!

Decanter om: Massetino

Massetino is considered the second wine of Masseto, but I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that it's far more than that. It represents around one-third of the production of Masseto, and judging by the quality of this 2022, next year's release of the grand vin could be absolutely phenomenal. Massetino has always incorporated a portion Cabernet Franc since its first vintage, 2017 – 10% in 2022. A cool and dry spring led to a slightly late budbreak, followed by 75 days of drought and high temperatures. Summer storms eventually came along to restore balance, and the cool September evenings were perfect for the grapes reach full ripeness. Each parcel was vinified separately and spontaneously in concrete tanks before undergoing malolactic fermentation in barriques, 50% new. After 12 months, the final blend was made and the wine spent a further three months in concrete before bottling. Bright and stony, there's so much energy here. Zingy and sapid, it combines fresh Mediterranean herbs and poised fruit, with more verticality than Masseto 2021 and just as much concentration. Incredible precision and beautiful freshness, especially considering the vintage.

This is refined and fresh with hints of sandalwood to the beautiful blue fruits. It’s medium-bodied with creamy and polished tannins that frame the blue fruit and hints of crushed stone. Succulent and juicy with a crunchy personality. You want a sip right away. Second wine of the highest quality from Masseto. So drinkable and wonderful. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Massetino is Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, and the color is a deep purple/magenta with rich extract in the glass. It offers deep notes of dark stones, a very unique perfume of lavender oils, rosemary, cedar, leather, and delicate toasty incense lifting from the glass. Plush and full-bodied, it’s more approachable and round on the palate, with notes of mocha, velvety plush tannins, even acidity, and a good deal of length. Drink 2026-2040.

Gosh. Wow. This is very distinct, very vertical and lifted, intense and highly expressive aromatically. Parfumier’s essences of flowers. Hyacinth and hyacinth bulb. Saffron. Wild rosemary. Mulberry. Wild blueberry. Maybe a hint of lavender. Graphite. Pencil-shavings. So succulent. Plump but with quite a tight frame accentuating the sense of density and compactness. Layered vertically but with great depth – tapering to a distant vanishing point below. Slightly chewy tannins grip on the finish after the silkily textured opening. Long and pure, very well sustained. Truly special.
