Lobenberg: 85% cabernet sauvignon. Sort med et strejf af mørkerød. Smuk fin, men meget koncentreret næse af chokolade, mørk frugt, brombær, men også lidt cassis og sorte kirsebær. Berusende æterisk næse. Første indtryk i munden er friskhed og race. Flot volumen. Stor frugt. Den enorme masse af tanniner bliver kun langsomt mærkbar, fordi de er mere polerede end nogensinde i Margaux. Den utvivlsomt gode syre er ikke skarp, den er helt afdæmpet. Balancen og harmonien er overvældende, som aldrig før smagt med Margaux. Måske den mest koncentrerede Margaux nogensinde og samtidig den fineste og mest harmoniske. Cirklens kvadratur! For mig er dette årgangens vin, uden hvis og men. 100/100.

The nose on this seems more concentrated than the 2000, and the purity of fruit is stunning, with blueberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, and hints of licorice. This is perfect and complete. Full bodied, with notes of forest berries and wild raspberries, this is thick and velvety with perfectly polished tannins. You can really feel the density on this, more than the tannic structure. This is a sleeping beauty that will be utterly captivating when it awakes. Don't touch this until after 2015. 100/100

Intoxicating scents of caramel, violets, smoke, licorice, plum and maraschino cherries take almost no time to find. Pure silk and velvet on the palate, the wine is seriously concentrated with an elegant, refined, fresh, tannic, rich, well defined, profile that has a lot more to say than it lets on for the moment. If I had to sum the wine up in a single word, compelling wold not do it justice. 5-10 years will add a lot to this already sublime wine. 100/100

An another level, the 2005 Château Margaux is as good as it gets, offering an incredible, full-bodied, layered style as well as the classic nuance, complexity, and elegance this Château is known for. Based on 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot raised in new barrels, its still youthful ruby/purple hue is followed by a kaleidoscope-like array of cassis, smoked currants, cedar pencil, spring flowers, and graphite. With incredible concentration, a multi-dimensional, layered mouthfeel, loads of ripe yet perfectly integrated tannins, and a finish that makes you salivate, this insanely good Margaux is just now at the early stages of its prime drinking window and has another 30 years of prime drinking ahead of it.
