Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Batailley 5eme Cru 2010

/100

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. 13,5 % alkohol. Kun 35 hl/ha høstet. Meget flot brændt chokolade-kakao næse. Sort frugt, brombær, dejlig mørk chokolade, praline. Langsomt kommer det frugtagtige løb igennem, solbær, også lidt blomme. Smuk mineralitet. Meget spændende, klassisk og samtidig hurtig og kraftfuld næse. Allerede forbandet god. Meget fin mund med sort frugt. Giver en masse nydelse. Mørke brændte toner. Race og volumen på samme tid. Sød, men stadig slank.

We are in full on classic Pauillac territory here, sculpted and balanced juicy blackcurrant and bilberry fruits, great lift on the finish, one of best value wines of the tasting, sleek tannins, studded with freshly cut herbs and charcoal. For a long time the 2009 was the best of the two vintages at Batailley, but the 2010 is now taking the lead. 55% new oak for ageing, Philippe Casteja owner.

Decanter om: Chateau Batailley 5eme Cru

Well-integrated 55% new oak and a great vintage from this 60ha estate, reflecting the precision in vineyard selection and winemaking that has only improved as second and third wines have been introduced. Fresh and refined, evoking subtle power, yet with a smooth texture, like satin. Sensual cassis, kirsch and forest strawberry jam aromatics. Try with roast quail in rosemary and thyme. 95/100

Parker om: Chateau Batailley 5eme Cru

Tasted at the Batailley vertical tasting the château, the 2010 Batailley may well have been the best wine in a tasting that encompassed three centuries of winemaking at the estate. The nose offers outstanding delineation and mineralité. It positively fizzes in the glass with all that coiled-up energy, ladling out vivid blackberry and cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, but it is the detail and precision that achieves a level that makes the 2010 a benchmark for the Pauillac estate. It sashays towards a tensile, tar and graphite-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is destined for long-term aging insofar that its quality will not be widely appreciated for many years.

Batailley

En balancegang mellem gammeldags smag og pragmatisme, harmoni og kraft, pris og præstation. Batailley er overbevisende på alle niveauer og klarer denne balancegang som næppe nogen anden vingård på venstre bred.
