Heiner Lobenberg om:
Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl 2015

96
/100

Det her holder for evigt!

Wine Enthusiast om: Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl

A clean-cut top note of citrus hovers above the otherwise still-closed nose. The palate comes in with a concentrated richness that is as much sustained by residual sweetness as it is by sheer force of fruit: candied lemon and orange, juicy pear, ripe mirabelle and yellow peach. There also is a zesty spicy pithiness on the midpalate that frames and guides the wine alongside invigorating lemon freshness that lets this finish off dry despite the richness. This is yet to unfold fully. Lovely now, sure to improve. Drink 2020—2035.

Suckling om: Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl

So much more subtle than the majority of Alsace Gewürz with countless delicate floral notes. Finally textures that are not only seductive, but also graceful and exciting like a prima ballerina's leaps. Very cool clean finish. Made from biodynamic grapes. Ecocert certified.

Parker om: Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl

The 2015 Gewurztraminer Clos Windsbuhl is in fact a Vendange Tardive that was picked at 16.66% potential alcohol, since it stopped fermentation at 12.5% and 70.7 grams of residual sugar. However, Oliver did did not announce that he would produce a VT in the Windsbuhl, so he isn't allowed to sell this wine as a such. Even without the Vendange Tardive predicate, the 2015 is a great and age-worthy Gewurz that is rich, sweet and concentrated but enormously well structured. It is made for long-term bottle aging of 10, 20 or 30 years.

Wine&Spirits om: Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl

Due to its altitude, Clos Windsbuhl is one of the later ripening sites in Hunawihr, yet its sunny, southeastern exposure promotes development in the grapes. In the heat of the 2015 vintage, the site provided the right balance for ripening gewurztraminer, creating a wine with beautiful richness underlined by a tight structure. The bold flavors pop with notes of sweet oranges and green herbs over hints of brioche. The wine grows in muschelkalk, a fossil-rich, chalky limestone, here with enough clay to sustain the 45-year-old vines, producing a hedonistic, rocky, essential Alsace wine.

Min vinmager

Zind Humbrecht
