Simultaneously ripe and chalky, cool and elegant with excellent citrusy freshness, this is a delicious dry riesling that really embodies the new style of German wine where charm and depth are equally valued. So much energy at the long, quite compact finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold. 94/100

Parker om: Riesling vom Kalkstein Gutswein

The 2022 Riesling trocken "vom Kalkstein" is based on the fruits from top sites in Westhofen and Guntersheim (all on limestone) that have been fermented in old oak casks and some stainless steel tanks. Bottled in early April, the wine opens with a pure yet intense and elegant bouquet with calcareous notes. Pure and fresh on the palate, this is an elegant and juicy, minerally tensioned dry Riesling with grip and highly stimulating salinity on the lemon-bitter finish. This is kind of a second wine of the grands vins (GGs), and it is absolutely fabulous. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023. 92+/100
