The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese was made without any botrytis. The nose, however, flickers with peach above the essential slate and lemon notes. That lift and noblesse are so vivid. The palate is a picture of poise, elegance and slate stoniness that simply swallows the sugar. Its supremely precise and elegant core is alive with stone fruit tones. What a wonderful wine, with such synthesis and seamlessness. (Sweet)

This very juicy Spatlese is a real no-brainer, but aside from its deliciousness, it is also quite fine, with a wealth of white-flower and white-peach aromas. Just a hint of caramel helps balance the vibrant acidity that keeps this so very clean. Excellent lemon-zest freshness in the extremely long finish. Drink or hold.

The 2024er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese was made from 15% botrytized fruit picked at 86° Oechsle on over 90-year-old vines and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (72 g/l). This offers a quite reduced nose made of spicy elements, pear, peach, and white flower. The wine proves superbly juicy and playful on the palate, where the acidity mingles superbly with juicy and fresh fruits. The finish is animating, beautifully light-footed, and gorgeously intense.
