There is a 2019 Leirana M. Luisa Lazaro, a wine that was only produced in 2005 and 2013 before. They found some wines they liked in 2019, wines with vibrant acidity, deep flavors and a very stony mouthfeel, austere and mineral. This is quite different from previous vintages. It matured in oak foudre and stainless steel, 50% each, for one year. It will be produced in 2020 too, and from there on, I believe they are going to age it in oak foudre, one year in stainless steel and one year in concrete (in fact, concrete foudres!). This 2019 should be released in 2023 or so (and the 2020 is still unbottled); they are going to keep the bottles. The wine should age nicely. 2,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021. This is a joint effort with Raúl Pérez.

Tim Atkin om: Leirana Maria Luisa Lazaro Albarino

Aged for three years in foudres, followed by concrete and finally stainless steel, this left-field wine uses grapes from different parcels in Meaño, aged between 45 and 100 years' old. Made in a more oxidative style, it's a white for red wine drinkers, with appealing bitterness, some tannic structure, flavours of saffron, blood orange and quince and a salty finish.
