Denne hvide Cheval blev plantet på mindre sandede og lerede dele af Cheval Blanc i begyndelsen af årtusindet. 12 små parceller løber ind i denne vinmark. Økologisk forarbejdet, håndplukket, helklasepresning med 71% Sauvignon Blanc og 29% Semillon. Gæring kun i træ fra 600 liter til 3 hektoliter, malo og modning på det fine gær i 18 måneder i nye og brugte franske barriques. Træet er meget moderat i næsen. Blomster- og mineralsk-saltede indtryk dominerer. Forbløffende frisk i munden, citrongræs, bergamot, renegater og hvid fersken. Grøn avocado, det fineste provencalske urtekrydderi og igen og igen friskheden fra lime og citronmelisse i eftersmagen, en meget elegant og mineralsk frisk vin, der minder lidt om Pavillon Blanc fra Chateau Margaux. Når den hvide Cheval Blanc har rigtig gamle vinstokke, vil den konkurrere med Smith, Pavillon Blanc og Mission Haut Brion om topplaceringen blandt Sauvignon Blancs.

This booms right out of the glass, just a knockout, fabulous white with so much personality, steel, cold ash, grilled nectarine, preserved citrus. A full two years ageing on full lees. Since its inaugural vintage, this is a wine that has unquestionably grown in itself, and it's hard to go wrong with this particular vintage. Harvest August 19, with 24 months ageing in large oak casks for the whites, the longest ageing to date, successfully capturing density and mid palate. 10% new oak, spread across a mix of 600l demi-muids and large oak casks. The Wine Palate om: Le Petit Cheval blanc

A blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, Le Petit Cheval Blanc 2023 glides out of the glass with a gorgeous perfume of lime blossoms, fresh grapefruit, and lemongrass, followed by nuances of jasmine tea, candied orange peel, and honeysuckle. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet and graceful, delivering layers of whispery floral and citrus flavors with an underlying chalky gravitas, finishing with impressive length.

Decanter om: Le Petit Cheval blanc

Freshly zested lemon with grapefruit and orange aromas - so pronounced and really quite crystalline on the nose. At the back some green apple and white floral elderflower and acacia notes too. Clean and focussed, lovely precision and clarity to the flavours with such a strikingly poised texture. This has grip and zing but also just a touch of buttery, softness that adds weight to the body. Threads of nuttiness and wood enter giving accents and spiced edges. Piercing acidity adds lift and joins the layers of confit lemon, baked vanilla pecans, bitter grapefruit and soft cinnamon spice. Gorgeously complex and the flavour lasts for ages. It has everything you want from this cuvée which has found its rhythm. Tasted in a vertical going back to 2018 and this is the most impressive.
