Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé 2024

97–99
/100

100 procent Semillon. 13,9 volumenprocent alkohol, 4,1 total syre, pH 3,8. Modnet i 50 procent nyt træ.

Château Suduiraut has truly stolen the show once again! In a vintage riddled with challenges, Pierre has once more revealed his near-mystical mastery of noble rot wines. Who would have imagined that behind nearly 130 g/L of residual sugar lies something so crystalline, so immaculate? This isn’t technique. It’s belief. It’s not coincidence. It’s the devotion of a perfectionist who refuses to yield. The 2024 vintage shares a similar hue with that of 2021: a radiant gold rimmed with the faintest glint of bronzed green, like the last light of sunset stretching across the edge of the steppe. And the nose? Simply sublime! While the familiar scents of honeyed tangerine and dried apricot are captivating, it’s the subtle burst of Sichuan pepper and saffron that truly delivers a soul-stirring, defining note. It embodies both richness and sweetness expected from a noble rot wine and an unexpected ethereal quality. The way it spirals and ascends across the palate – it’s almost too beautiful to believe.

Tim Atkin om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

Very fresh and a little closed at this stage with plenty of oak and the botrytis notes of lime marmalade creeping out from underneath. Mouthfilling with sugared almonds, lemon bonbon and Turkish delight icing sugar notes. Much more green citrus than orange, and with very well balanced sugar (130g/L). Not especially heavy on the botrytis, but balanced and very long and mouth-filling.

Jeff Leve om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

White peaches, pineapples, vanilla, lemon curd, honey, saffron, apricots, and candied tangerines get the wine going. Sweet, intense, opulent, and most importantly, vibrant, this sweet treat is going to be fabulous to enjoy young. But, if you are able to keeps your hands off it, the wine can age for decades. The wine was made from 100% Semillon. Drink from 2028-2060.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

Exotic citrus, orange blossom, honeyed mint, and floral notes all shine in the 2024 Château Suduiraut, a rocking gem of a Sauternes that's medium-bodied, has a concentrated, layered, rich mouthfeel, beautiful acidity, and a great finish. It's loaded with classic Sauternes magic.

The Wine Independent om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

Erupts from the glass with powerful notes of lemon marmalade, lime cordial, and candied ginger, giving way to suggestions of candied orange peel, allspice, and beeswax. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate delivers beautiful harmony with a racy backbone and creamy texture, finishing long and spicy.

Suckling om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

The complete opposite of the 2022 vintage. Fresher and less unctuous, with more delicate fruit, but there is still plenty of botrytis. Spices, sweet pineapple, lemons, marmalade, wax, fresh mangoes and bitter herbs. Medium lusciousness, with a round, creamy finish. 130 grams of sugar.

Galloni om: Chateau Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé

The 2024 Suduiraut offers up a beguiling mix of passion fruit, mango, pineapple and tangerine oil. Even with 130 grams of residual sugar, the 2024 is not an especially opulent Sauternes. I especially admire its freshness. What a beautiful and expressive wine.

Suduiraut
