En kraftig næse af sort bærchokolade med violer og lakrids. I munden en uventet kraft og meget krop, stadig med den umiskendelige klassiske linje, sort frugt i massevis, koncentreret og store mængder tannin, men utrolig fin. Mørk kakao, lette mintnoter. After Eight og sorte kirsebær med cassis og brombær. Måske den bedste Sociando nogensinde til dato.

A breathtakingly beautiful Sociando-Mallet with a dense ruby/purple color and a bouquet of ink, mineral, graphite, vanilla, and creme de cassis, the 2000 boasts superb concentration, great definition and intensity, ripe tannin, and a long finish of more than 40 seconds. This is top-flight, classified growth-quality stuff. So what's new? This continues to be an over-achieving estate! It will be long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2028.

Bright ruby-red. Rich, perfumed aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, minerals and cocoa powder. Big, dense, lush and deep, but with lovely sappy vinosity; this expands impressively to fill the mouth. Finishes very long, with suave, broad tannins and a note of black olive. A gloriously successful vintage for Sociando-Mallet, offering a full range of cabernet aromatics.

The colour is vivid ruby, young, with a gentle welcoming open to the palate, deepened by grilled cedar smoke, capsicum and brambled blackberry. Not quite the same depth through the mid palate as many 2000s, but it is balanced out by mouthwatering acidites on the finish. 90ha in production at this point, 45hl/h yield, unfined and just light filtration before bottling, 100% new oak for 12 months then 6 months in vat, 18 months in total, 65hl/h yield.
