Quintus er en del af Haut-Brion-imperiet. Slottet dækker 28 hektar og er en sammensmeltning af opkøbene Tertre Daugay og L'Arrosée. I 2020 med 62 procent Merlot og 38 procent Cabernet Franc. Betydeligt finere end 2019. Måske ikke helt så spændende, men totalt poleret. Uendelig fin næse af sorte kirsebær. Ingen trættende tanniner overhovedet, blot fin, båret, aromatisk og lang. En stor fornøjelse, en stor smagfuld hedonisme allerede i næsen. I munden får sorte kirsebær selskab af moreller. Så kommer en vidunderlig hindbærsyre. Fantastisk længde. Lidt træ, let lakrids og cremet chokolade, men forbliver superfin. Totalt poleret, en hedonistisk fornøjelse. Hvis jeg ikke vidste, at vinen er ret dyr, ville jeg sige, at dette er en perfekt Saint-Émilion til hver dag. Det er en sand fornøjelse. Prisen er en anden ting. Men selve vinen er perfekt delikat, utrolig fin og subtil. 97-98/100

The 2020 Quintus is a blend of 62.5% Merlot and 37.5% Cabernet Franc, weighing in with an alcohol of 15.4%. Displaying a deep purple-black color, it leaps from the glass with bold notes of crushed blackberries, boysenberries and stewed plums, plus suggestions of chocolate mint, clove oil, lilacs and star anise. The full-bodied palate is densely laden with rich black fruits and floral accents, framed by well-balanced acidity and finely grained tannins, finishing with great length and impressive energy. Judging from this barrel sample, this is the finest, most complex and complete Quintus yet—bravo! 95-97/100
