Sort-rubelignende rødvin i 2009, friske blommer og brombær, fine skovfrugter, meget krydret og samtidig meget afbalanceret og harmonisk. Lidt vinmarksfersken, mørk mælkechokolade, cassis og fine søde sorte kirsebær sammen med moreller med overordnet smuk volumen og fin race. Meget afbalanceret, bærrig, frisk mundfølelse, aldrig for fed, silkebløde tanniner, vilde bær, kirsebær med brombær og chokolade, smukt legende, medium krop og stor længde. Finesse og charme. Stor friskhed. Det skal nok blive sjovt. Stor vin og flot succes, den bedste Phelan indtil videre. 95+/100

The 2009 Phélan-Ségur has a more generous and slightly more exotic bouquet than its peers with plush red cherry, redcurrant, soy and forest floor aromas that soar from the glass. Thankfully it maintains ample freshness and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, quite firm and slightly chalky tannin with unerring symmetry and tension towards the finish that is pure class. This is an outstanding contribution to the vintage and it surely constitutes one of the best wines ever made at the estate. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. 95/100

Sometimes described as making somewhat austere wines, Phélan-Ségur can seem a little gawky and awkward in its youth. That's not the case here though, for the wine is much better balanced than the 2005: concentrated and stylish with integrated, spicy oak and bright, refreshing acidity. This is the best young Phélan-Ségur I've ever tasted. 15+ years

Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Phélan Ségur leaps from the glass with scents of crème de cassis, molten chocolate, licorice and blueberry compote with touches of cardamom, Morello cherries and dried mint. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals beautiful poise with a fine frame of grainy tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and mineral laced. 93/100
