Sort med en let violet kant. Sort, ekstremt chokoladeagtig pralinenæse med undertoner af brombær og cassis, sorte kirsebær, fin sødme. Lidt tjære, en antydning af appelsinskal. Forførende, kraftfuld, kraftfuld næse. Høj frugtintensitet i munden, sort chokolade med brombær, syngende cassis, mango Nutella. Lidt røde ribs nedenunder. Masser af tjære, grillet kød, høj spænding. Enorm vin, men i denne tidlige form er den endda overraskende velsmagende og drikkelig for en Haut Bailly. Ekstrem høj tannin, helt sikkert en af de mest tanninholdige vine. Med denne høje syre holder den en stor spænding, og den smørbløde tannin og den høje alkohol hjælper den med at opnå en god harmoni. Meget flot, meget stor Haut Bailly.

Every bit as good yet in a dramatically different style, the 2010 Château Haut-Bailly has a more chiseled, focused, inward style to go with the essence of Haut-Bailly-like aromatics of sweet red and black fruit, smoked tobacco, graphite, and crushed stone, with just a hint of background minty herbs. It's full-bodied, perfectly balanced, has flawless tannins, and a rare mix of power, elegance, and purity. It blossoms with air, and while certainly mature, it has another 2-3 decades of overall longevity ahead of it. 100/100

Coiled and reserved at first, smoky cigar box as it opens, vivid and beautifully sleek blackcurrant, bilberry and blueberry fruits, taut and structured tannins even at 14 years old, with pencil lead and olive paste studding the palate from beginning to end. Plenty of estate signature in its finessed spirit, coupled with the concentration and swagger of the 2010 vintage. Harvest September 22 to October 14. Denis Dubourdieu consultant, Gabriel Vialard winemaker. 60% new oak for ageing.

Deep plum/purple, Haut-Bailly’s 2010 required some coaxing to appreciate its subtle notes of barbecue smoke, lead pencil shavings and creme de cassis as well as its touches of pomegranate and forest floor. The oak is pushed far into the background and the tannins are extremely silky, but the intensity of the wine is profound and the finish lingers for close to 55 seconds. This wine is ripe yet delicate, powerful yet stylish, and essentially resembles a remarkable fashion design from a house of haute couture. This wine needs a good 7-8 years of bottle age and should keep for 40-50+ years. 98/100

Great aromas of crushed blackberries with flowers and stones that follow through to a full body, with super silky tannins and a long, long finish. It fills your mouth with beautiful fruit and velvety tannins yet shows tension and form. This lasts for minutes on the palate. Structured and superb. Don't touch until 2020. 98/100

Indtil for nylig blev den drevet af hans søn Jean, som blev efterfulgt af sit barnebarn Véronique, som også er engageret i den traditionelle vinfremstilling. Et frisk pust og springet ind i det kvalitative overhus kom dog først med barnebarnet Veroniques overtagelse.
