En lidt mærkelig næse, masser af rød frugt, kirsebær, et sted med meget charme, men også noget gæret med rosiner, alligevel eller netop på grund af dette også sjovt og idiosynkratisk. Så meget røde kirsebær, hyben, også havtorn, mango, der udstråler en masse charme og individualitet. I smagen samles vegetationen fra næsen op, humoren fremhæves sammen med den store friskhed fra 2019. Under alle omstændigheder meget intense tanniner, stærk ekstraktion, veltilpassede bitterstoffer. >Denne altid arketypiske Saint Emilion har tydeligvis udviklet sig i de senere år og har fået mere spænding og endda en vis begejstring. Hatten af! 95-96/100

The 2019 Grand Mayne takes its time to unfold in the glass, eventually delivering enticing and very pure red berry fruit, beautifully defined and less exuberant than some of the vintages I was tasting 15-20 years ago. There is a sense of terroir and mineralité in situ. The palate is saline on the entry, immediately grabbing your attention thanks to unbridled freshness and vivacity. Slightly grainy in texture, the umami sensation that glides towards a very precise and natural finish is wonderful here. Grand Mayne has been on an upward swing in recent vintages and this is another outstanding wine from Jean-Antoine Nony. 94-96/100

Beautiful notes of ripe red and black fruits, cedary herbs, and spring flowers all emerge from the 2019 Château Grand Mayne, a beautifully balanced, seamless, elegant Saint-Emilion that has loads to love. With medium to full body, ripe yet present tannins, and a great finish, it offers complexity, richness, and elegance, and is a beautiful wine in the making that will evolve for over two decades. The blend is 80% merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc aging in 60% new French oak. 93-95

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Fonplegade charges out of the gate with bold scents of crushed black cherries, mulberries, blueberry pie and violets with hints of dark chocolate, black olives and cast-iron pan with a waft of woodsmoke. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid structure of firm, finely grained tannins and tons of freshness supporting the densely packed, muscular black fruits, finishing long and energetic.93-95/100
