Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Climens 1er Cru 2015

98
/100

En usædvanlig rig sammensætning af blomstersødme, honning og forbløffende syre for 15 Climens. Grandios balance med fascinerende charme og spænding.

Decanter om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

This stands out from the rest - white flowers, bitter orange, mandarin and smoked caramel are met at every step by lift and tension. A beautiful wine that keeps on delivering.

Wine Spectator om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

Gorgeous, o ering a range of orange, almond and brioche notes backed by lively citrus oil, green tea and ginger accents. Rich but tightly coiled nonetheless, with lots of energy lying in reserve on the nish. Will need some time.

Parker om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

The 2015 Climens always shows awkwardly after bottling, a Barsac that demands bottle age. Still, you can appreciate the intensity here, with touches of mint and jasmine complementing the honeyed fruit. The palate is just as it should be: very pure and refined, a perfect line of acidity, utterly harmonious with a viscous finish with hints of vanilla pod and orange pith lingering on the aftertaste. Bérénice Lurton has overseen a delectable Barsac that as usual will reward those with the nous to bottle long term.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

Lastly, the 2015 Château Climens is unquestionably in the same league as the 2011 and 2014, with slightly more elegance and freshness. More exotic notes of honeyed limes, tart apricots, white flowers, and lavender honey all emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful elegance, good acidity, and a great finish. It's not as big or opulent as the 2011, but it’s flawlessly balanced and will have a long life.

Suckling om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

This great Barsac is just beginning to open up and not only has incredibly fine mango, papaya and star-fruit character but also something mineral. Great concentration and textural complexity right from the tip of your tongue to the end of the extremely long, very pure finish. You can enjoy this now, but I recommend cellaring it as long as you can, because this has at least 50 years of ageing potential!

Galloni om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

The 2015 Climens contains 132g/L residual sugar. Cropped at 21.2hL/ha, it is wonderful and expressive with wild honey, praline, almond and saffron aromas. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, perhaps a little more depth and concentration than the 2016. Beautifully defined and mineral-driven on the finish. Effortless. Outstanding. Tasted at the Climens vertical at the château in April 2022.

Wine Cellar Insider om: Chateau Climens 1er Cru

Kicking off with floral notes, you find intense aromas of honeysuckle and white flowers before moving on to all the honeyed, yellow tropical fruit notes, vanilla and marzipan. All the beautiful, lusciously sweet, honeyed fruit works due to the bracing acidity, so have the right balance between sweet, fresh and refreshing. Give this at least a decade, two if you can.
