Champagne Grand Cru Réserve Perpetuelle Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut
The NV Champagne Grand Cru Reserve Perpetuelle, which includes wines going back to 2006, comes entirely from the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and was vinified and aged in oak barrels. A bright yellow/straw color in the glass, the nose is beautifully layered and compelling, with refined, decadent aromas of fresh baked brioche, poached apples, a hint of praline, and lemon bars. Medium-framed yet rounded, it fills the palate with fantastic balance and a harmonious feel. Its refined mousse frames the wine beautifully, it has a lovely silky texture throughout, and the focus through the finish is remarkable. It’s a superb wine, and I love it. The winemaker has really found his stride over the past several years, so if you’ve been sleeping on these wines, now’s the time to check back in. It’s a lot of wine for less than $100. Bravo. Drink 2024-2044. It was disgorged in December of 2022 and has zero grams per liter of dosage.
