Maskulin! Brunello kan være sådan! 98/100

Suckling om: Brunello di Montalcino

Attractive aromas of balsamic, tea, dark berry, walnut and coffee bean. Full-bodied, yet tight and very intense with ripe tannins that are fine and reserved. Racy and polished. Beautiful length to this wine. Needs at least two to three years to come. Try after 2024. 98/100

Jeb Dunnuck om: Brunello di Montalcino

The 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a rich ruby hue yet remains transparent, with savory, layered aromas of red cherry, saddle leather, cedar, damp forest floor, and wild herbs. It is medium to full-bodied, with a ripe yet structured feel, ample tension, and notes of red plum, currant, dried roses, orange rind, and white pepper. Persistent and linear, with a long finish, it will continue to mature into more umami tones of shitake and tea leaf. Drink 2025-2045. 97/100

Galloni om: Brunello di Montalcino

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is one of those young wines that, from the moment you put your nose to the glass, you know you’re in for a treat. A sweetly alluring and remarkably fresh bouquet of crushed cherries, strawberries and plums is further complicated by hints of clove, spiced orange peels and mint. It’s velvety-smooth and radiant with a display of dark red fruits, all tightly wound up in a web of minerals, with an air of savory herbs and inner florals that develop toward the close. Try to keep your hands off for another four or five years, and then reap the rewards for a decade or more. 96/100

Parker om: Brunello di Montalcino

Tasted from magnum (one of just 1,500 made), this is a new wine from Valdicava that is presented in quite the statement bottle with stunning artwork that depicts an allegory to a saint. With fruit from one of the most celebrated crus in the appellation, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli needs quite a bit of extra time to open. I followed my sample's evolution over a 24-hour period to get a better look inside. This wine requires extra patience. On my first tasting, I found that the fruit struggled to come through, and I recorded notes of white pepper, savory herb, campfire ash and crushed stone. Blue flowers like dried lilac and lavender also appear. When I came back to the bottle a day later, I found that the bouquet had gained in detail, sharpness and increasingly articulate specifics. But it took its time. To the palate, the wine is dense and firm, and I have no doubt as to its long-term aging potential. It is an honor to be one of the first people to taste this ambitious new release from the Montosoli vineyard made by Vincenzo Abbruzzese and his family. 95/100

Wine Spectator om: Brunello di Montalcino

Fleeting aromas of cherry, cedar, sanguine and leather give way to a beam of ripe cherry, berry and earth flavors in this elegant red. Firm and resonant, with a matrix of dusty tannins on the long finish. Best from 2024 through 2045. 95/100

Min vinmager

Valdicava
