Rangen de Thann er Zind-Humbrechts legendariske sted. En stejl skråning på vulkansk klippe. Pinot Gris fra dette sted er sandsynligvis den bedste Pinot Gris i verden. Enorm intensitet og forbløffende finesse på samme tid. Krydrede, stenede og frugtagtige noter veksler og er sømløst vævet sammen. Kvæde, appelsinskal, gult æble, søde krydderier og provencalske krydderurter samt en hel masse gul stenfrugt. Strukturen er enorm, og det samme er den ekstremt fine, forbløffende friske finish på denne Pinot Gris-naturkraft. En fantastisk vin. 97-99/100

Super smoky, spicy and flinty, this imposing and enveloping pinot gris is barely off-dry. Welcome to a world of smoky and textural complexity on the deep and refined palate. The power and concentration are almost as complete as the ripeness, effortlessly handling the 13.5% alcohol. Super-long, creamy and spicy finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 98/100

For some strange reason, the 2022 Pinot Gris Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain Grand Cru had the highest acidity of all the wines harvested in 2022 - even a touch more than the Riesling Roche Calcaire. This is one of the mysteries of nature. Only a vestige of pear appears on the nose. The palate is absolutely focused. Tasted blind, this would be hard to recognize as a Pinot Gris. This is unreal with its chiseled, scalpel-like acid streak, wonderful and glorious. The pear of Pinot Gris returns on the finish. The 2022 is bracing, gorgeous, unusual and magical. There's far more Rangen than Pinot Gris. (Bone-Dry)
