This is a Bordeaux blend that competes with the best of Tuscany such as Sassiciaia and Ornellaia. It's so structured and refined with beautiful length and sophistication. Full body and gorgeous tension. Fantastic aromas and flavors of currants, plums and tile. Hints of hazelnuts and lavender. Linear and polished on the finish. A wine that delivers so much now but will be even better in four to five years. Best ever from here. From organically grown grapes. 97/100

A beautiful wine, the 2013 Monteverro sports a thickly extracted and slightly retro style that recalls the heyday of the super Tuscans. It offers a subtle twist of nostalgia, but it does so with a confident personality. Dark fruit, spice, tobacco and cured leather come together as a united front. The blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The mouthfeel delivers ample power and textural richness. 95/100

A highlight in the range, the 2013 Monteverro is starting to show some maturing aromas of polished leather, cassis, menthol, black licorice, and pine sap. The palate displays a lot of freshness and ripe purity, with a balanced and decadent feel, a full-bodied frame, silky tannins, and a coating fruity profile through the finish, with notes of sweet fruit shining on. A very well-styled and decadent wine, it’s in a great place now, although it should have another 10 years or more ahead of it.
