Ud over den grandiose 26-udgave blev 24-udgaven også lanceret i 2024 kun i magnum. Det er ikke uden grund, for denne vin er lavet til at blive gammel - og det kan den sagtens blive i 20 år eller mere. Den vil blive finere og finere, men den er allerede ekstremt defineret, mineralsk og silkeblød, fuld af Chardonnay-finesse og delikat Pinot-frugt. 24er Edition er baseret på de store årgange 2007, 2006 og 2004, dvs. varme og kølige år i sammensætningen. 2007 udgør størstedelen med næsten to tredjedele. 24 magnum lagres i ca. 14 år på gæren, før den frigives. Chardonnay fra de bedste crus i Cote de Blancs med Pinot Noir fra de bedste crus i Montagne de Reims. I modsætning til mange andre topchampagner er Grand Siecle altid en harmonisk og spændende blanding af flere årgange. Chic og underspillet - som altid! En tæt, intens champagne med sød marokkansk mynte, varmt surdejsbrød, kandiseret citrusskal, frisk saltet smør og appelsinblomst. Vanvittigt afbalanceret og elegant harmoniseret. Alt passer bare sammen. Den er dejligt tør af en Grande Cuvée at være og drikker derfor meget fint, kontant og køligt - selv om den har uendelig meget kraft. En stor vin.

Laurent-Perrier’s NV Itération 24 Magnum Brut reveals a complex, deep bouquet of white flowers, confit citrus, mirabelle, spices, menthol and warm biscuits. This full-bodied, enveloping and fleshy Champagne offers a deep, dense mid-palate that is invigorated by racy acidity and concludes with a long, endless and ethereal finish. Slightly more austere and tense than the Brut Grand Siècle #24 released in a bottle, this magnum blend consists of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, with vintages from 2007 (60%), 2006 (20%) and 2004 (20%).

Tasted from magnum, the NV Champagne Grand Siècle Iteration No. 24 pours a medium yellow hue and has a more brothy, oceanic character, driven by the blend of 2007, 2006, and 2004. It offers notes of grapefruit that almost smell like hops, along with custard, crème brûlée, and confit citrus. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with a ripe yet not heavy feel, showing apricot, almond, and a long, rich texture that leans more into the 2007 vintage. The nose also carries hints of ginger and honey, with mocha and coffee hiding underneath. The blend includes 25% Pinot Noir, with 60% sourced from the 2007 vintage. Drink 2025-2045.

The NV Grande Cuvée Grand Siècle No. 24. (magnum) is fascinating to taste next to the 750ml bottle, both disgorged in June 2024. It is fresher in its aromatics and flavor profile and also silkier in texture. Tasting the two formats side by side is illuminating. Citrus confit, white flowers, chalk, mint and dried herbs are all beautifully delineated. I won't be surprised if this improves with more time on the cork, as it was disgorged less than a year ago.
