En Chateau Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion fra Toscana og efter min mening det eneste modstykke til den perfekte Brunello fra Valdicava, Poggio di Sotto og Salvioni fra Chianti! Altså en af de få autochtone vine fra Toscana med ægte storhed! Flaccianello er nok det mest perfekte udtryk for finesse af alle enkeltmarks Sangiovese-vine fra Chianti-regionen. Der er skiftevis røde og sorte bær i næsen, understøttet af en meget interessant, lys mineralitet, næsten flintagtig, skulle man mene. Solbærfriskhed og søde blåbær på samme tid, søde krydderier og lakrids, der antyder en enorm kraft og tæthed, sikke en blanding! Smagen bekræfter så, hvad næsen antydede, vi har sprudlende frugt, meget voluminøs, tæt, cremet, mundfyldende, rund og saftig, frodige blåbær, brombærkrydderier, rig tannin med grafit på bagsiden. En charmerende sødmefuld kerne af lakrids, krydderurter og lidt peber afbøder den massive struktur i denne store Flaccianello. En vin, der har masser af tid, men som også har brug for en vis tid til at blive tæmmet. 98-99/100

The 2015 Flaccianello della Pieve is a wine I loved on release. Today, after nearly ten years in bottle, the 2015 is still an infant. It shows all the natural concentration of the year, along with the slightly more potent, extracted style Fontodi was gradually evolving from at the time. The 2015 spent 18 months in French oak barrels and six months in cask, with some variation depending on the lots that were chosen for the final blend. As much as it pains me to say it, readers might still want to cellar this!

-- Parker: I'm hardly surprised to report that Fontodi's 2015 Flaccianello della Pieve is one of the best wines recorded in this report of new releases from Tuscany. This wine sits as tall and as proud as the Colosseum in Rome or the Pyramids of Giza in its undeniable glory and beauty. It would be impossible to exaggerate its many lasting attributes and qualities. Perhaps the most remarkable is the smooth and seamless nature of its many complicated moving parts. It produces abundant power, intensity and elegance as if this were the easiest accomplishment in the world. But we all know that's far from the truth. Despite the heat of the vintage, this wine is constructed with firm building blocks as if it were from a cooler year. That's the Panzano magic in a nutshell. This vintage is very young and tight, and you need to exercise patience to allow it enough time to evolve. 98/100

-- Suckling: The aromas are crystal-clear here, ranging from dark cherry essence, dried herbs and dark plums to licorice, cloves, vanilla and paprika. Full body, very velvety yet firm tannins and a long, grippy finish. The tension created with the interplay between the rich fruit, taut acidity and a sturdy tannin backbone is so enticing. Drink in 2022. Made from organically grown grapes. 97/100

Fontodi-ejendommen ligger i nærheden af Panzano i hjertet af Chianti Classico-regionen og er et af Toscanas absolutte flagskibe. Herfra kan man se ud over Conca d'Oro, "guldbassinet" syd for Panzano, dalen, hvis navn i årtier har stået for de pragtfulde sydvendte skråninger i vinmarkerne.
