An incredibly deep and complex expression of the blaufrankisch grape and the Spitzerberg terroir that proves both are capable of greatness. Still extremely young with enormous structure in spite of the breathtaking silkiness on the medium-bodied palate. The very fine tannins gracefully build to a fantastic crescendo at the totally fascinating finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now but best from 2026.

The 2021 Ried Spitzerberg – Obere Roterd 1ÖTW is terribly deep, refined and elegant on the concentrated nose that shows fully ripe dark-fruit aromas intertwined with earthy, iodine and yeasty notes. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, savory and lush yet finely tannic Spitzerberg with remarkable balance yet possibly not the tension, drama and thrill of the Liebkind Kobeln. The finish is fresh and stimulatingly saline, revealing remarkable and tension, even more so if served in a big glass. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
