Ripe nose with red peppers, tapenade, graphite and currants. Dusty tannins pair well with the juicy, opulent fruit. Ripeness here with an almost Bordeaux demureness, but the high acidity shows the climatic context. Drink or hold.

Considering that the 2019 Les Pensées de Pallus is Bertrand Sourdais' entry to is estate's range, it's a hell of a wine. Just from sticking your nose in the glass, it smells sophisticated, brooding and sensual. Red cherry meets vanillin, tea leaves and spice in this complex, layered expression. It is elegant, with finely-woven tannins and balanced, juicy acidity providing a gently refreshing conclusion. Long, refined and scented, I'm sucked in. 92/100
