Sammen med Petrus udgør Trotanoy toppen af Moueix-familien. Mørk sort rubinrød farve. Rasende, meget intens næse af sorte kirsebær, solbær og blommer med mørk Valrhona-chokolade. Duftende gul frugt, passionsfrugt, mango. Meget kompleks, fin, legende. Fantastisk næse. En af de bedste Pomerol-vine på næsen. Ren race i munden, enorm længde, skiftevis sorte og røde frugter. Chokolade. Fra søde røde kirsebær til kraftige ribs, tranebær, sorte kirsebær, brombær. Alt kommer, alt ændrer sig. Utroligt kompleks. Stenmel, salt, tobak, igen og igen den enorme tannin, totalt poleret. Sammen med den polerede syre og det høje glycerinindhold danner det et stort orkester. En af årets og historiens store Pomerols.

As expected, the 2010 Château Trotanoy is a dense, powerful, masculine Pomerol in the vintage that does everything right. Revealing a deep ruby/plum hue, as well as a smorgasbord-like array of black cherries, currants, iron, graphite, and chocolate, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, concentrated mid-palate, and sensational length. It still has plenty of tannins lurking under the fruit, yet everything is just perfectly balanced, giving this an incredible seamlessness on the palate that makes it so compelling. Absolutely riveting stuff, it has another 30 years of prime drinking ahead of it. Drink 2025-2055.

Parker om: Chateau Trotanoy

Think of this wine as the 1998 on steroids! Showing better out of bottle than it did from barrel, this wine has put on considerable weight. It is full-bodied, masculine (as most vintages of Trotanoy tend to be), with loads of earthy, foresty notes intermixed with black and red fruits, a meaty, almost charcuterie note to it, an inky/purple color, some sweetness on the attack, but then the tannins kick in, making the wine seem at least a decade away from accessibility to most consumers. The texture is layered, the purity impressive, and the overall symmetry, balance and integration of all of the wine's building blocks are flawless. Forget it for 10 years and drink it over the following 35 years. Bravo! 98/100

Wine Spectator om: Chateau Trotanoy

Dense and slightly chewy, this features girders of charcoal-coated grip running from start to finish, along with bay leaf, smoldering tobacco and warm tar. But don't be fooled—there's also loads of fruit, offering dark plum, blackberry and black currant notes, laced with hints of mulling spice and alder. Terrific old-school grip powers the finish, and should easily pull this through two decades in the cellar. The brick-house Pomerol of the vintage. Best from 2017 through 2040. 98/100

Stunning nose with wild strawberries, vanilla and raspberries. Opens up with a little time in the glass to sweet licorice, blueberries and some graphite. Round and full on the palate with an amazing fruit and refined tannins. Truly superb. Hard not to drink now. 98/100

Vivid and full of clarity on the aromatics, this is a delicious wine with phenomenal black truffle, liquorice, cigar box and cocoa bean woven through the concentrated cassis fruits and fresh mint leaf. 50% new oak for ageing.

Neal Martin om: Chateau Trotanoy

As with all the samples from JP Moueix, I leave this for 3-4 minutes in the glass to coalesce. The nose has very good intensity with blackberry, briary, wild hedgerow, cassis, Provencal herbs and orange essence. Very good definition: the more you wait, the more this nascent Trotanoy offers. The palate is medium-bodied with an immediately engaging spicy entry, wonderful definition and harmony, supremely focused with a precision that is top class. This is a sensational Pomerol. Tasted April 2011. 96-98/100
