7,2 hektar i umiddelbar nærhed af Pétrus, La Fleur-Pétrus og Lafleur. På den anden side ligger Enclos Tourmaline. Vingården har været ejet af Jean-Pierre Moueix siden 1953 - en meget smart investering. Terroiret er grus på ler og sort ler med et højt jernindhold. I modsætning til Moueix' andre vine vinificeres Trotanoy i meget små betonkar. Vinen lagres 50 procent på nyt træ i 18 måneder. Som overalt her afstilkes druerne fuldstændigt og sorteres med største omhu. Først på sorteringsborde i vinmarken og derefter med lasersorteringsmaskine på slottet. Vinstokkenes gennemsnitsalder er 35 år. 100 procent Merlot. Trotanoy har et lige så mytisk omdømme som Pétrus, Lafleur og Le Pin. Det er i hvert fald de fire store navne, som er særligt svære at finde og koster mange penge. Trotanoy er endda et insidertip. Den kan sagtens være nummer 1 i denne dybe krydring. Trotanoy 2020 blev høstet fra 15. til 18. september. Næsen er lige så blomsteragtig som alle Pomerols i år. Utrolig kraftfuld. Violer og rosenblade, jasmin, rosmarin, hyldebær, sort chokolade og sød enebær. Enorme aromaer, enormt frugttryk. Men ikke anstrengende. Simpelthen blød og overdådig. I munden er der masser af greb, masser af salt. Enorme masser af mørk lakrids, eukalyptus og mynte. Sød, tung overdådighed, men intet klæber. Ikke syltetøjsagtig, men simpelthen rig og sort. Mere end nok af det hele. Utrolig undertrykkende i sin kraft. Med en vanvittig finish af sød lakrids og en let rød baggrund af krydret hindbær. Sikke en kraftfuld vin. Samtidig en hedonistisk fornøjelse i denne utrolige modenhed og finesse. En rigtig power-finesse-vin. 100+/100

Love the perfume and finesse here with fresh flowers, blackberries, crushed stones and cement. Cedar. Full and very long with tight and muscular tannins that go on for minutes. Tight and thoughtful. Soulful. Try after 2030. 100/100

Reminding me slightly of the 1998, the dense ruby/purple-hued 2020 Château Trotanoy offers a classic, concentrated, structured, regal style that this terroir seems to deliver with ease. Giving up a layered, primordial bouquet of smoked tobacco, black cherries, iron, graphite, and gravelly earth, it hits the palate with a massive array of fruit and tannins that somehow stays flawlessly balanced, offering ripe, silky, yet building tannins, flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. It's going to need a decade of bottle age to hit the early stages of maturity, but this is pure Pomerol brilliance. Is there a better performing Château on the Right Bank today? Not in my opinion. 100/100

Lisa Perrotti Brown om: Chateau Trotanoy

The 2020 Trotanoy is 100% Merlot and has a deep garnet-purple color. It is shut down tight to begin, needing a lot of patience and vigorous shaking to unlock notes of tar, fertile loam, licorice, and black truffles, leading to a core of preserved plums and fruitcake, with emerging wafts of iron ore and unsmoked cigars. The full-bodied palate is almost impenetrable - densely laden with taut black fruits and earthy accents, supported by very ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and profound. Give it 10-15 years at least and then prepare to be dazzled. 100/100

Parker om: Chateau Trotanoy

Opaque purple-black in color, the 2020 Trotanoy needs considerable coaxing and swirling before it erupts from the glass with powerful notes of prunes, chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and hoisin, plus nuances of candied violets, star anise and clove oil, with a touch of smoked meats. The big, concentrated, full-bodied palate explodes with decadent black fruit preserves and exotic spices, supported by wonderfully velvety tannins and bags of freshness, finishing with epic length and, finally, lots of earth and mineral layers. A truly impressive titan of a Pomerol, this is going to need a good 6-8 years in bottle, then should go on wowing for 40 years or more. 98-100/100

Inky garnet in color, the wine is pure hedonism at its best. The attention seeking nose, with its violets, spice, truffle, black and blue fruit, licorice and cocoa is off the hook. And it only gets better from there. Incredibly sensuous and silky, the fruit is drenched in velvet, infused with dark chocolate and is effortless to drink. With a seamless finish that exceeds 60 seconds, this is what great wine is all about. A serious contender for wine of the vintage, fans of Pomerol and Trotanoy should buy this as soon as its offered. It is that good. 98-100/100
