Sociando-Mallet er nabo til Château Charmail. Vinstokkene her er tæt beplantet med 10.000 vinstokke pr. hektar. Slottet plejede at være et rigtigt insidertip. I 2020 med en meget klassisk næse. Ekstremt krydret og sortfrugtet, cassis og brombær. Meget ligetil, meget klassisk. Meget 2016 med 2010. Smuk violet note, blomsteragtig, masser af damp og spænding. Forholdsvis slank, let mund, men meget flot koncentreret, selv om den er let. Så ikke alkoholtung, ikke fed. Men absolut et højt koncentrat af cassis, sorte kirsebær og brombær. Medium længde, godt fokus. En meget god Haut-Médoc, uden at tilhøre den allerførste række af Medoc- og Haut Medoc-appellationer. 94+/100

This has aromas of blackcurrants, bay leaves, blackberries and thyme. Bitter chocolate, too. Lots of density and focus with a medium to full body and firm, dusty tannins. Focused and compact. A small barrel selection of some of the best wines. Try in 2028. 95/100

One of the best Haut-Médocs out there, and a wine that competes with any number of classified growths, the 2019 Château Sociando-Mallet is ruby/plum-hued and has a great nose of ripe red and black currants, spice, smoked tobacco, and loamy earth. It shows the more expressive, open, seamless style of the 2019 vintage and is medium to full-bodied, has beautifully polished tannins, and just about perfect balance. Smart readers will buy a case (or more) of this beauty, and it will have an incredibly broad drink window, with 30-35 years of overall longevity. 94/100

Another brilliant vintage, packed with griotte cherry, cassis sandalwood, cedar, rosemary, cumin, mint leaf, smoked earth and crayon. Great quality, wonderfully expressed brambled dark fruits, firm tannins that are expertly cradling the fruit, and a mouthwatering finish. More proof of the value offered by Sociando without sacrificing Left bank signature. 90% new oak for ageing, 42hl/h yield.

The 2020 Sociando Mallet has retained its impressive aromatics from its showing in barrel with beautifully defined blackberry and raspberry fruit, pressed violet and light cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm backbone, a little powdery in texture, fine backbone with ample freshness and tension towards its graphite-infused finish. Bravo!
