Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru 2016

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot. Søstervinmarken til Lynch Bages, samme ejer. I modsætning til andre år er næsen påfaldende lig Lynch Bages'. Måske en anelse mindre finesse i Baronen. Noget mere rustik Pauillac-orientering. Meget god, Cabernet-orienteret, fin Pichon Baron, men Pichon Lalande forbliver i front. 100/100

Parker om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Pichon-Longueville Baron offers a suave and seductive nose of warm red and black currants, black plum preserves, truffles, tapenade and rose hip tea with touches of sandalwood and Chinese five spice plus a waft of iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, firmly structured and packed with mineral and exotic spice-laced black fruits, it finishes very long with compelling herbal sparks. 97/100

Suckling om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

A perfumed and refined nose of black currants, herbs, walnuts and an earthy touch. Vibrant, fresh and full of energy, starting to come together, with expansive, polished tannins integrated into the fruit. Beginning to open and already seductive, yet it has a long life ahead. Drink or hold. 10 Years On retrospective.

Decanter om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

Pichon Baron 2016 is a riveting, classy wine, richly aromatic and expressive from the start with a complex bouquet of black cherry, liquorice, graphite, menthol and subtle spices. The palate combines fleshy texture and linearity. The fine-grained tannins have the laser-like precision that Christian Seely likes so much, and contribute to the overall impression of crystalline purity so conducive to the terroir expression of this benchmark wine destined to reach new heights over the next 20 to 30 years. Magnificent wine. 100/100

International Wine Report om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

The 2016 Château Pichon Baron is drop-dead stunning and one of the most compelling and complete wines from the vintage. Composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, this begins with wonderfully complex aromatics of ripe dark currants, sweet exotic spices, roasted coffee grounds, fresh florals, graphite and hints of loam which all come together seamlessly in the glass. On the palate this follows through and continues to thoroughly impress with its full body and beautifully polished, yet supportive tannins and a deep core of ripe fruit. It demonstrates remarkable depth and concentration along with outstanding balance and finesse leading up to the long, graceful finish. This wine has it all and while it is already quite fascinating in its youth it is ultimately built for the long term. This is an epic vintage for Pichon Baron, and could eventually go down as one the greatest wines ever from this legendary Château. 99/100

Jane Anson om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

The exact kind of vintage that you come to Pichon Baron for - muscular, concentrated, graphite, cocoa bean, Pauillac signature, a ton of lift and grip, approaching lift off but with decades ahead, easy to recommend. 80% new oak.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2eme Cru

The 2016 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron is beauty and is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot that was brought up in 80% new French oak. Tasting like a hypothetical mix of the 2009 and 2010, its deep purple color is followed by a powerful yet sensationally pure bouquet of crème de cassis, blackberries, lead pencil shavings, and graphite, and is just about as quintessentially Pauillac as it gets. Full-bodied, fleshy and even a touch flamboyant, it has sweet tannins and a monster texture that coats the palate. Count me in as a huge fan. This fabulous wine will be relatively approachable in just 3-5 years but will age for 30 years or more. 97/100
