Sort. Ekstremt kraftig, kraftig, intens næse af sorte kirsebær, crème de cassis og brombær, flydende mørk chokolade, cubansk tobak, tjære, meget klassisk og fyldig, næsten overdådig. Mere slagkraftig end den mere racede Comtesse. Igen meget rig og overdådig i munden, smørbløde tanniner, fløjlsagtig med fin bitterhed, igen den flydende mørke chokolade med sorte kirsebær, sød cassis og brombær, med en klar og fast struktur i den sorte masse. Et ganske imponerende kraftværk med en næsten evig fremtid foran sig.

Revealing incredible quality and performing better than it did from barrel, the 2009 appears to be the greatest Pichon Longueville Baron since the 1990 and 1989. An amazing opaque blue/purple color is followed by scents of spring flowers, graphite, smoky charcoal, incense, blackberries, blueberries and hints of coffee and chocolate. Incredibly intense, pure and flawlessly constructed with extravagant layers of fruit and richness, this offering has developed beautifully under the management of Christian Seeley. It is a voluptuous, opulent Pichon Longueville Baron that may eclipse anything they have made in the past. This brilliant wine should be at its peak between 2018 and 2045. 98/100

The 2009 Pichon-Baron continues to amaze - a benchmark wine of recent years. The bouquet gushes from the glass, offering blackberry, melted tar and graphite aromas seamlessly integrated with the new oak, all very precise and quite mineral-driven. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, a superb line of acidity, immense purity, and less voluptuousness than its peers, but more class and restraint. This is evolving into one of the standouts of the vintage from Pauillac and unusually, it surpasses the 2010. Show-stopping! Tasted at the Pichon-Baron vertical at the château.

Amazing aromas of ripe currants and plums with flowers. Full body, with super fine tannins and wonderful fruit. It is energized. Reminds me of the 1990 PB, which is a legend. Try after 2020.
