Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2eme Cru 2005

Sort med en lyseblå kant. En enormt kraftig næse af sorte og røde bær, sorte kirsebær. Kun meget svag sødme i baggrunden. Meget høj frugtintensitet i munden, overvejende rød frugt. Meget koncentreret. Rige tanniner, men uendeligt hurtige. Meget nærværende syre, men på ingen måde skarp. Fremragende afbalanceret. På trods af al finesse og harmoni har vinen et enormt bid, ligner stilistisk mest Lafite Rothschild og hører bestemt til i 1er Cru-gruppen med hensyn til klasse med denne årgang. 96-100

Wine Spectator om: Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2eme Cru

This is breathtaking. Black in color, with incredible aromas of crushed blackberry, mineral, licorice and lead pencil. Full-bodied, with a mind-blowing texture of seamless tannins that coat every millimeter of the palate. Goes on and on, with licorice, currant and flowers. Time will tell if it's better than the 2000. 100/100

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2eme Cru

Still inky hued and not yet in its prime, the 2005 Château Leoville Las Cases is nevertheless jaw dropping good, and certainly a perfect wine in this reviewer’s opinion. Cassis, ripe currants, leather, graphite, crushed stone, and smoke all define the aromatics, and it has a massive, full-bodied profile on the palate as well as the more focused, regal style of the Chateau. There’s no shortage of tannins, it has incredible purity, integrated acidity, and a monster of a finish. It actually has a touch of Latour-like character, and it needs another 4-6 years, if not a decade, to hit prime time, and will have 30 years of longevity. The 2005 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, representing only 37% of the total production. 100/100

Parker om: Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2eme Cru

-- Parker: Another titanic effort from the Delon family, the 2005 Leoville Las Cases is probably the greatest wine made at this estate since Jean-Hubert Delon's father produced the 1986 and 1996. Only 37% of the production made it into the 2005, a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with less than 13% Merlot and Cabernet Franc. An inky/ruby/purple color is accompanied by reticent aromatics that, with considerable coaxing, offer up subtle notes of toasty vanillin intermixed with lead pencil shavings, wet rocks, and enormously ripe, intense black cherry and creme de cassis. The wine hits the palate with a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel as well as enormous extract, concentration, and purity. This ageless, monumental claret requires a minimum of 15-20 years to approach maturity, and should last for a half century. It is about as classic a Leoville Las Cases as one will find. 98/100
