Ekstremt mørk rubinrød, næsten sort. Meget koncentreret, æterisk næse, der strømmer ud af glasset. Næsen er helt fyldt med dette orgie af smagsnuancer. Fin sødme. Masser af sort frugt. Lidt tjære. Lidt chokolade. Forførende. Uventet fin i munden. Flot volumen med masser af rød frugt. Som sædvanlig med Grand Puy Lacoste, et strejf af Chateauneuf, men i år mere i stil med Chateau Pegau. Meget kraftfuld. Meget voluminøs. Smukt karakteriseret. Fantastisk længde. Alt i alt for Grand Puy Lacoste en harmoni, der aldrig er opnået før. Total balance.

The Château Grand Puy Lacoste 2005 has a brilliant, classic pencil-lead nose that is Pauillac through and through. There is no messin’ about here. The palate is very well defined with wonderful acidity, great depth of black fruit with an astonishingly precise finish that just takes your breath away. Is it the best 2005 of the vintage? Not quite, but it belongs in the top tier. And factor in value for money, I would be happy sitting on a big pile of this in my cellar to drink over the rest of my lifetime and the afterlife if that exists too.

A stunning wine! This shows exceptional depth, with precision and richness beautifully knit together. Aromas of graphite and something darker (think Chinese ink) make your nose want to go deeper. Subtle touches of savoriness and cigars shows evolution. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, with firm and fine tannins and an extremely long finish. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% merlot. Complex and already approachable, but it will easily keep well for 20 years. Drink or hold. From a vertical tasting at the winery.
