Beausejour Duffau er en af mine erklærede favoritter i Saint-Émilion. Den ligger på toppen af plateauet på ren kalksten. I det magiske område mellem Ausone, Beau-Sejour Bécot og Coutet. Alt, hvad der har rang og navn, er deroppe. Meget intens næse. Sort og blå frugt. Masser af tørret blåbærskind. Sorte kirsebær, meget intense. Også lakrids, masser af mynte, lidt mango ved siden af og eukalyptus. Masser af tryk. Fin, poleret, men samtidig kraftfuld, med utrolig fremdrift. Næsen minder om den legendariske 100-point-vin fra 1990 - sikke en krabat! Uendelig fremdrift i munden også. Kraft, koncentration og på samme tid salt, rød frugt og høj spænding fra meget livlig syre. Røde ribs. Tungen ruller, øjnene spærres op. En enorm spændingsbue. Men det, der virkelig er imponerende, er, at den har denne utrolige kraft i en årgang, der har tendens til at være fin og frisk. Dette er helt sikkert en af de store årgange af Beausejour Duffau. Læg den gerne væk i ti år eller mere. En gigant! 100+/100

Another stunning vintage from this brilliant estate that is just delivering hit after hit. Concentration and intensity right from the initial aromatics, damson, cassis and blackberry fruits that you could almost drink now until the tannins build up across the palate and remind you that this is built to last. Velvety texture, black chocolate and crushed stone minerality on the finish. One of the wines of the vintage. Tasted twice, one week apart. 60% 1st wine. A yield of 45hl/ha. 98/100

Deep in color, this is beautiful from start to finish. Elegant, full-bodied, sensual, sexy, fresh and sweet, there is ample concentration and length here. The fruit is ripe and clean with a fabulous sense of purity in its essence. The finish holds your attention, making you want to take another swirl, sniff and sip to see what else you can find here. The wine is made from blending 86% Merlot with 14% Cabernet Franc. The harvest took place September 24-October 7. The production is well above last year with close to 2,000 cases produced. This is one of the stars of the vintage. 97-99/100

Composed of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Beausejour (Duffau Lagarrosse) was harvested from the 24th of September to the 7th of October. Yields were 45 hectoliters per hectare this year with about 60% of production going into the grand vin. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is deceptively forward to begin, giving a wonderful intensity of Morello cherries, wild blueberries and boysenberries scents, soon unfurling to reveal more and more layers: pencil lead, cast-iron pan, wilted roses, oolong tea and charcoal with a hint of garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energetic, crunchy black fruits, framed by firm, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing very long and minerally. If this delivers on its promise, it should be very long-lived indeed! About 2,000 cases are anticipated to be made. 96-98/100
