Blandingen af 50 % Syrah og 50 % Petit Verdot gæres i en blanding af stål- og cementtanke. Den ene halvdel lagres derefter i 12 måneder i 500-liters ege-tonneaux i første og anden passage, mens den anden halvdel forbliver i stål- og betontanke. Druerne kommer fra Maremma, hvor vinstokkene har rødder i alluvial sandjord. Dyb rubinrød farve med violette nuancer. Næsen er intens og dufter kraftigt af violer, syrener, saftige brombær og syrlige kirsebær, mørk chokolade og Matcchia-urter fra Middelhavet. De saftige, runde tanniner glider glat gennem munden, og med hensyn til krydderi og tæthed kunne vi også være i Rhône her. Denne vin er fremstillet i henhold til Filippo Chias høje kvalitetsstandarder og er svær at slå, når det gælder værdi for pengene. Helt sikkert "everybody's darling"!

Syrah and Petit Verdot shape the 2022 Romitorio, a dark, polished Toscana Rosso with generous aromas of lavender, blackberry, fresh plum, olive, and crushed herbs. The palate is full-bodied and supple, with silky tannins and bright acidity that keeps it moving, never letting the wine feel weighed down. It’s a satisfying, focused red with plenty of appeal over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2036.

Wine Spectator om: Romitorio

Blackberry, boysenberry, bacon fat and violet aromas and flavors highlight this supple red. Beautifully integrated, with polished tannins and lively acidity driving the fruit-stained aftertaste. Syrah and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2038. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 4,160 cases made, 2,600 cases imported.

Suckling om: Romitorio

Tense and polished, with aromas of ripe cherries, red plums, dried flowers, red licorice and a touch of iodine. The medium- to full-bodied palate is filled with similar fruit and a nicely velvety finish. Drink or hold.

Parker om: Romitorio

This is a blockbuster 50–50 blend of Syrah and Petit Verdot vinified in stainless steel tanks and concrete. The grapes for Castello Romitorio’s 2022 Romitorio come from the Scansano area but are processed at the Montalcino winery, making for a creative Bordeaux-meets-Rhône experiment set in Tuscany. The wine shows vinous richness with layers of black fruit and a smoky nuance that recalls the wild hills of the Maremma, while notes of cracked white pepper, garrigue and juniper berry lend a distinctly aromatic profile. First produced in 2008, this bottling delivers racy freshness alongside lingering tannins, with a production of 37,000 bottles.
