Tiratore er en enkeltmarks Chardonnay fra den nederste del af den berømte vinmark "La Collina". Vinstokkene blev plantet der i 2001. Medium citrongul i farven med et strejf af grønt og sølv. Jeg blev blæst bagover, så snart jeg lugtede til den - vinen katapulterede mig til Chassagne-Montrachet! Delikate krydrede aromaer som kanel, vanilje, lidt stearinlysvoks, frisk tændte tændstikker og brioche er vævet sammen med de gule frugtsmage. Saftig hvid fersken, æbler med gult kød, konferencepærer. Den vidunderlige finesse folder sig ud i munden. Hovedrollen spilles af den sprøde, salte mineralitet, der breder sig over tungen, mens birollen på imponerende vis udfyldes af den gule frugt. Hvordan kan en vin være så fin og samtidig så gennemtrængende intens? Det er vidunderligt! Den bliver hængende i flere minutter, det er en stor Chardonnay-godbid, som desværre - som det så ofte er tilfældet med så geniale og prisvenlige ting - kun fremstilles i små mængder. 97/100

The 2020 Tiratore Chardonnay is darker in color than the 2022 and 2021 tasted beside it. On the nose, there's a cavalcade of white spice, star anise, fennel, clove, jasmine tea and even licorice. Nice. In the mouth, the wine is electrified by scintillating acidity, which helps the fruit really settle onto the tongue and allows the phenolics to create a wide web of texture that coats the palate. This is gently chewy and totally composed. Excellent. This shows what a good vintage with some time in bottle will do. Yes. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. 96+/100

Intriguing bouquet, mineral to pure citrus fruit scents, a dense, almost nutty lees quality, orchard fruits and fine oak. Complex and quite delicious on the palate, too – texture then a core of fruit, a fine acid line and layers of fine older barrel. Fine-tannin chalky texture with a flinty, edgy quality. Fresh and delicious to drink now, but will develop more complexity. 96/100

Burgundian and Kumeu River drinkers take note of the 2020 Chardonnay Tiratore La Collina Vineyard. "Tiratore" is Italian for hunter or shooter; many bullets were found on the site while planting the vines as it used to be a popular spot for locals to go shooting. The 2021 Chardonnay, however, is very alive. It is a highly concentrated, finely scented, savory Chardonnay, offering huge intensity of fine, restrained fruit. You should expect clarity and purity of nectarine fruit alongside subtle oak and floral notes. There's a sense of firmness to this wine, with great acidity that keeps the wine clean, clear and persistent. 96/100
