Lobenberg: 100% Chardonnay, Barrique, 14,9% Alkohol. Ausgebaut für 14 Monate in 75% französischer Eiche und 25% im Stahltank. Der Chardonnay aus Carneros ist von hellem Strohgelb und besticht in der Nase durch leicht salzige Noten. In Sichtweite des Pazifiks gewachsen hat der Chardonnay über die letzten Jahre an Finesse gewonnen. Noten nach Austernschalen, Salzkaramell, Melone und Iod mischen sich mit minzigen Obertönen. Mit mehr und mehr Luft gewinnt er an Fülle und Aromatik. Spontan vergoren im Holz und ohne Malolaktik hat er im Antrunk eine lebendige Frische und einen feinen, weit gespannten Säurenerv. Aromen nach Zitronenschalen, Kräutern wie Thymian, Lorbeer und grüner Bananenschale wandeln sich mit mehr Luft in Richtung Frucht. Ein robust strukturierter Wein mit straffem Trinkzug und zestig-salinem Nachhall. 94/100
