Heiner Lobenberg über:
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne 2010

Lobenberg: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo vom neben Valentini bedeutendsten Erzeuger dieser Rebsorte in Italien. In Würde zu Größe und Trinkreife gealtert. 98/100

Galloni über: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne

-- Galloni: he 2010 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne is a total showstopper with its deep, dark, purple, red color. The intense bouquet blends fresh plums with black raspberries, sweet peppery curry, tobacco, leather and balsamic spice. It flows across the palate in silken waves, communicating elegance at the start. Within moments, a tart burst of cranberry and sour cherries combines with nervous acidity to create a juicy impression with riveting tension. The 2010 is rich and potent; it leaves a staining of concentration while remaining incredibly fresh. The balanced bite of tannin that remains creates a classically dry finale. A minute goes by, and dried citrus rinds, hints of coffee grinds and black licorice are still present. This is easily the most moving experience that I’ve ever had with an Emidio Pepe Montepulciano. The 2010 is in a gorgeous place today and has a very bright future. 97/100

Wine Enthusiast über: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne

-- Wine Enthusiast: Made from biodynamic estate-grown grapes, this is a powerful, intense offering from an Abruzzo icon. A heady mix of Thai basil, anise seed and purple flowers meld within a dense wild berry core. The palate is broad and gripping in youthful tannins, yet plush with a thick-skinned dark berry tone, and speckled notes of herbs and game that linger on the extended finish. Drink 2022–2030. 95/100

Wine Spectator über: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne

-- Wine Spectator: Appealing flavors of baked raspberry, orange zest, dried thyme and coffee liqueur ripple across the palate in this elegant, medium- to full-bodied red. Bright and harmonious, with creamy tannins and a subtle, lingering finish of tar and loamy earth notes. Drink now through 2030. 3,000 cases made. 93/100

Jancis Robinson über: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne

-- Jancis Robinson: More closed than the 2012. Mellow, beefy style on the palate with mulchy bramble fruit. Intriguing and complex with oodles of layers that will peel back with more time. 18/20

Emidio Pepe
